Intake Duct Question
So I've been contemplating putting on the 350z style duct onto my front bumper to allow a "ram air" effect to the air box. I was wondering if it would be ok just installing the duct, or if I should get some tubing to direct the air through the hole that is already left from where the VFAD was.
My only concern with putting tubing/hose to the duct to feed the airbox directly, is water, but didn't know if anyone that has done this can comment.

Racing Beat
for the stock bumper the Racing Beat is probably the best fit. it also has some holes at the back bottom of the piece to drain water. the separations in the front also help break up water trying to enter.
the little bit you will ingest in normal situations will just help steam clean the carbon out.

I, as many, went with the Racing Beat duct mated to the stock airbox (with K&N drop-in filter) and it works great. You have to of course remove the bumper to install (and VFAD which you already did) but there's no modification to the bumper itself required.

the duct without ducting wont do much but bring slightly cooler air into the intake area, one thing i noticed is that a lot of people put the duct off to the side, i dont know if they were made differently, but i put mine further towards the center, so the duct points directly through the vfad hole in the support, also, for "free" ducting, i took the flexible tube from the vfad setup, cut the ends off, and used that, as nice and "clean" as the odula, re, and rb ducts are, i really dont like the bends, just like anything made to flow better, bends dont do a good job, yes i understand that it does bring cooler air in, but, the z33 inlet with a well routed duct, depending on the intake, could prove to provide a nice ram-air effect. I personally feel a noticeable difference in throttle response at speeds about 50mph, i also have the K&N genII intake, that reversed cone design just scoops in whatever the duct is throwing at it.

^^ The RB duct intake isn't blocked by the license plate frame if that's what you mean. Nor does the RB duct block the airflow to the a/c condenser, which is lower. Win-win
I actually used a short section of VFAD [thanks to Brettus for the idea] to seamlessly mate the RB duct to my stock airbox, so I do get true "cold air intake."
