intake and exhaust on the way

hey guys, i just ordered an aem intake, red, to go on my black, a nice combination. and a greddy exhaust system. my question is what else should be on my shopping list to keep my car n/a, but to get it to 13's in the 1/4 mile. i know this might be a re-post, but there is no definitive answer out there. should i go with a fly wheel, or lightened rotary or what. ive got a couple grand left to spend, but i dont want to go turbo, cause of the reliabitity issue with the greddy and what not. where should i go from here guys. thanks

RP Supercat (hi-flow cat) or midpipe (if you don't care about emissions & CEL), lightweight flywheel, and CZ Piggyback ECU. That's about it, unless you want to go nitrous.

I would seriously recommend you not get this. The pullies are a waste of money. I have them, and got a whopping 1-2 hp across the rev range. I also had their hi-flow cat which was a very good piece. The notion of 25 hp from stuff like the pulley, hi-flow cat & exhaust is nonsense. You have the intake, & exhaust. The only other stuff is the hi-flow cat/midpipe, flywheel & ECU. Pullies are a waste of money. We are not talking about V8 pullies with heavy harmonic balancers.

I would suggest reading everything you can on the racing beat web site...it has a lot of good information. The two best mods you could have done are the RP Super-cat and the Aluminum Flywheel. I must construe that your are looking for some additional straight line power...in that case you could also look at having the FEED 4.778 gear (Ring and Pinion) installed.

Also Headers do nothing for this car....at least all that have been design so far.

Do not buy the marketing hype..... I don't trust them.

If you must get pullies, then get them from UR (Unorthodox Racing) and save yourself a hundred Plus dollars

Feel free to post the dyno. I got about 1-2 whp across the rev range. But for the money, I would rather get the RP Supercat.

im trynna do the same thing ,n/a HIGH 13's...but then i learned long time ago it would be super hard...well i already have exhaust, intake,rp super cat....well goal is to get the lightweight flywheel, interceptor ecu, light weight rims, porting, and headers? for a complete exhuast system and stay bars to reduce wheelhop off the line...dear god if that enough ima be mad haha.....but the the easiest and probably cheaper way is turbo....well these were just IMO..iunno if these really get you in 13's but i just want it anyway
oh that 4.777 gearing but i wouldnt use it becuase i drive freeway alot and high speeds and that would kill my gas

The word is that Mazda did a good job of squeezing out just about all that they can.

May I recommend putting the straight-line high-speed dreams to rest for a while. Until a really good aftermarket fuel management system comes along, you really can't tune too much more out of it. Give it another year or two... or three.. There is the interceptor-X but I'm not sure what it'll do for you without a turbo.

If you want a fast straightliner, get an RX7 and mod the hell out of it. You can get that down in the low 11s. The Renesis is an entirely different beast.

I would, (and actually plan to) instead, concentrate on the car's strongpoints - its handling. Get some tokico shocks, sway bars, maybe some lowering springs and give the autocross circuit hell!

Think about it - 40 in first, almost 70 in second... and those upper RPM ranges are pretty darn torquey. As you know, it's not fast off the line but once you get it rolling about 25MPH, its a mean machine and rip through a course. The RX8 can seriously mop up in the Stock B class.

Just my 2 cents.
