Intake PROBLEMS

hey i took the stock air box out of the car and i put a large filter onto it instead of the stock on and i will say it sounds amazing with the aftermarket one but when i turned it on i lost like a significant amount of power and it stalled and sputtered like crazy i had to put the stock box back in and the problem was fixed..... any thoughts it feels like some vacuum problem..... what u think?????

I think you proved why the OEM airbox is really not that bad. What you did was turn the OEM cold air intake into a hack job hot air intake.

because you totally fuxked it up.

You cant just put a big *** filter there and expect it to work.

Where did you put the MAF? I'm pretty sure you're running without a MAF since you took the OEM box out.

you hate it? too bad, thats the way it is.

There is a lot of science going on, and obviously you have zero clue about how ur car works.

Go do homework b4 anymore stupid attempts.

You should learn more about the car before you attempt to reengineer it. Your mod made you 8 run worse. While the noise the OEM intake makes might not be to your liking, the airflow is fine. In fact it changes based on need.

Some advice: Unless you know the in's and out's about the right volume and flow rate for the size of our motor at the right RPM, l'd suggest buying an off the shelf model. Do a search and you'll find plenty of reviews by the guys on here.

Thanks, it's good to know l'm good at something.

And can you correct me where l went wrong, rather then just saying fail? That just comes across as obnoxious.

I'm going to be nice and suggest a solution that "might" work.

There are these screens before the MAF. Those screens are to straighten out airflow so that the MAF can read the air correctly. Without those screens, you're going to get a weird idle problem like what you mentioned back in your original post.

Try putting in one of those screens that's in the stock intake infront of the MAF, that should help.
