For the exhaust I have a Racing Beat unit & I love it. They are coming out with an intake unit as well. If you want to get all this as a package, SR Motorsports has them in a package where they have the pullies, air intake, hi-flow cat (and exhaust in their GT4 package) but it is $$$. Don't believe this nonsense of 30-40 hp from this stuff. 10-15 if you are lucky.

Geez Nojooc,

Calling HKS "a tad bit pricey" is like saying the Titanic hit a "little ice cube." Both are rather "slight" understatements. HKS makes some very high quality stuff but expect to pay a premium for it.

Depends on what you're comparing them to.....
HKS is a tad bit pricey compared to the usual crop of Jap parts like Apexi, Blitz, Trust, etc, but is admittedly a lot more expensive than some of the other brands on the market.

Exhaust: Save your money...Racing Beat = 3HP gain..... no muffler = 4HP gain, unless your neighbor's like the noise....maybe get an aluminum flywheel instead and free up a lot more HP than 3.

Pulleys: I have SR motorsports....Easy install and they work well.

Intake, save your money...maybe get a drop in High Flow air filter for $55 from Racing Beat. A bunch of other Air Filters actually reduce power output.

One fellow I know, meet at the Grand Rotory Rally has a Borla Exhaust and Typhoon Intake....he is actually dynoing at ~5 HP less then stock.

I would tell you that if you are looking for big gains in hp from an exhaust, it won't work out. But the sound quality from the Racing Beat is great. Much better than the stock exhaust. The flywheel is a good option, but also realize that it costs a substantial amount of time & $ to install. Although for performance this really is your best bet. I got the SR Motorsports pullies installed on my car the other day. My check engine light is on. I will try the methods everybody is suggesting to get rid of it. As for intakes i would stay away from the K&N Typhoon unit. When most people talk about losing hp, or having idling issues this is the unit I hear about the most. I just don't think it was designed for the RX8. I think they ported over a design from another car, and never took into account the RX8 design. Of some of the posters that have dynoed it the loss of hp comes from the low end, with some gain on the high end. The drop in filters, K&N, green, afe, Mazda Speed, are also good.

The bottom line is for performance get Canzoomers Stage1/2.

For cool and sound factor get an exhaust.

As for intakes.. IMNHO they are a waste of money.

Rotary Extreme is running a special this month on the Greddy exhaust for $535. That is a great price for one of the better RX8 exhausts.
