yea, but at the same time the more advanced ECU's become in general, the more bases the standalone manufacturers have to cover...it used to be one standalona would easily control dozens and dozens of motors, but now we have to resort to setup like th interceptor, that is tailored to the vehicle

I'm only missing headers and pulleys, but from reading reviews, these two don't net you much yet. If we can tune maybe 20hp out of the mix, then that would make me happy.

N/A Test Car Wanted

Ok fellow rotorheads, Mazsport is ready for further testing of the Interceptor-X for N/A cars. We have a problem, we dont have access to a N/A test car. We would like to resume testing next week which will require a few hundred miles of mostly normal driving, then spirited driving followed by dyno tuning. Can anyone in the RX-8 community help. WOW...I read this whole thread....

I'm always late to these threads!

Anyway, where are you located? I thought I read your in FL...is that true?

I have a NA RX8 without any mods but I'm not sure what is needed and if you would want to test it on my car.

I wont be modding my 8 until it's paid for or at least the warranty is over, so I don't know if my 8 would be helpful.

As far as your product, if you could pull out 25HP for 1.5K (considering it probably helps other future mods (less FI which I don't want to try because I want my rotary to last as long as possible) I would consider it since most other mods are pretty pricy and only give 1-8 HP from what I've heard.

But...I know little about mod's and the technical side of engines.

I wonder if they're going to tune it for stock or modded(cat, catback, intake)

Hopefully the latter, because I think that anyone serious about N/A power would already have those mods.

The way I plan "not set in stone" to mod is to buy everything a bit at a time and when I have everything I'm going to have it installed (or do the work with my dad) all at the same time to feel the most impact possible.

If their ECU can give 25HP alone without (probably unlikely) anything else, I can only imagine what it can do with better breathing, less rotational weight, and less overall weight to help things along.

If 40 NA HP can be found using this and with other NA mods and I can take 100 pounds off the RX8, I think I would be done with mods. If I could get into the high 13's...I would be satisfied, especially if it was with NA power.

I'm guessing with a full race exhaust (no cat) and intake around 215whp.

It will be Canzoomer-like: 20HP peak gain, no gains until 6kRPM.
The ECU is already optimized below 6k, there are no gains to be had there. The only gains are to be made by leaning the AFR over 6k, with perhaps some timing changes.

Yep - it's going to be up top. I have my cz pulled at the moment due to my most recent service visit. Now that I have the R flash, I need to retune again.

So, Scott, make sure you tune an R flashed PCM for us.

Has anyone volunteered their N/A 8?

Have you found any volunteers? I have a bone stock M/T, I live in Sarasota. How long would you need the car? If you are interested in utilizing a stock RX8, I think I can drop by.

Cheers,

Alex
