Need some help. I just purchased a 2005 RX8 Grand Touring loaded used at 10k miles. I am a novice when it comes to aftermarket work on a car. The car has an aftermarket exhaust as well as an aftermarket aero package( looks alot like the x men car) I was told these cars run extremely hot especially since I have only had this car since last Friday ha ha. I love this car and want to take care of it. Nevermind the performance increase but is it almost necessary to install an intercooler and how much $$$ should I be looking to spend. I do realize the price range could be diverse. Suggestions please

intercooler isn't going to do anything for you since your not compressing air (which creates heat) with a SC or turbo.

get the racing beat reflash or the mazsport cooling fan mod, both will cause your radiator fans to activate earlier and keep the engine about 20 degrees cooler while driving.

 

Is this something that should be done? How many owners have done this? Reading the posts in here it sounds like aftermarket parts to increase HP arent going to be cheap. It sounds like a waste to do a cold air intake apologies for thinking an intercooler was what I was looking for. What about a performance chip? How much, which one, how much HP??? What are the least costly things I can do to increase HP

You might need an intercooler for your camshafts..

 

We all were newbees at one time. (I still feel like one)

Now we all know the intercooler is required more for your exhaust valve springs than your camshafts

We can help him, not a problem. but intercooler? for what? Its obvious that he didnt even do the *basic homework*.

Actually I am not a kid. I can take all the poking and as for homework agreed should have done more. I would still appreciate any and all help this site and people can offer. I am a novice and have regretted posting intercooler since I clicked post. I guess from what I have learned a cold air intake wont do much for my horsepower but is it a good idea to keep the engine temps down? I dont have a lot of time on my hand to do all the homework I should. I thought this would be a great place to learn, I thought it was kinda cool that there is a club for RX8's as opposed to the G35 I almost bought. Hoping to find a way to fit in....................

 

your car in stock form already sucks air from the bumper area - so an aftermarket cold air intake doesn't do much - since ambiant air is ambiant air.

 

What about forced air??

 

well forced air is turboing.... for real come to a meet and we will inform you about it all... we have plenty of experience with turbos and the basic mods
