as for the jic titanium,i think it weights about 17 pounds. the sound, well i ahve the stainless steel jic catback so i THINK they should have the same sound i do have to say its awesome. not too loud and not too quiet. and incase you want a low sound or rumble it adds taht as well.

Just as my Ferrita sport system i had installed today. Deep mellow throaty sound more like a piston engine with grunt! I will of course dyno test it, but not until next week.

There's a clip of the full ti system up somehwere, just search for "jic clip" and it should come up. This weekend I'll try to get some higher qual files for the jic full ti but we'll see what happens. Super light and great sound

well i took my test pipe out for the recall. so i juss have the jic catback and i have to say that it sounds quite low. but when u floor it, to me, its very raspy. i think it sounds sooo much better with the test pipe. JMO

DKNV has the JIC Ti with the OE cat on her car, unless you are trying to be an attention ho IMO this is the best exhaust for street performance RX-8; very light & quiet, just a slightly louder than OE tuned sound under WOT

BTW, I know of someone selling a slightly used one for $900

wow for some reason i assumed it was loud O_o. do you suppose it would get a lot louder if i also have an RP Supercat?

i wish i could just hear both exhausts side by side, i was actually leaning more toward the tanabe at this point because of the look and slightly cheaper cost, but i do want to keep the sound relatively low as well

I dyno test my Ferrita single full flow exhaust sytem yesterday. +7 hp is the result with a total of 243 fwhp on a Sun fully computerized rolling road. Best was that max torque went down from 7400 rpm to 6600 rpm total 205Nm@6600 rpm. Peak power 243@9100 rpm this is with Shell V-Power 99 unleaded. Car is now really fun to drive even in 5th gear from 100 mph it pulls strong!

It is definitely louder than the Racing Beat unit. I got my car, then the RB unit, then SR Motorsports hi-flow cat, then Greddy turboed, then RP Supercat, then JIC Catback (and sold the RB unit). JIC is quite abit louder than the Rb unit, and also probably stock.

that's hard to believe, our JIC Ti is barely louder than the OE exhaust with the OE cat

dunno, I have had the RP Supercat on the whole time with the JIC Ti unit. With the RP unit the RB cat back was much quieter.

Hey I have the same setup on the way the JIC & RP...is it unbearably loud or bearable? and how is it @ idle?...Oh yeah & scsi don't be mislead the tanabe ultra medallion is a SS unit w/a Ti muffler. I almost purchased this exhaust thinking the wole setup was Ti...

No, it's not unbearably loud at all. It's just I wanted something only about 1 level louder than stock. To me the perfect sound was the RB unit with the stock cat. Tells you about how loud I like it. If you like say a Greddy or a Borla unit then the JIC Ti. will be good for you.

I dunno, again ours with the OE cat is just barely louder than the OE muffler, no drone or nothing bad. It doesn't make sense that it would be louder with an aftermarket cat than a muffler that is louder with the OE cat

My mods went like this :

OE Cat w resonator+ OE Muffler
OE Cat w resonator + RB Muffler
SR Motorsports Hi-Flow Cat w Resonator + RB Muffler
RP Super Cat (no resonator) + RB Muffler
RP Super Cat (no resonator) + JIC Ti Muffler

For me the best was when it was the OE Cat w resonaotor + RB Muffler, or the SR Motorsports unit w resonator. The JIC Ti with Rp Supercat is definitely louder. Some people like it some people don't. The RB unit with stock cat was not noticeably louder at idle, but at WOT it sounded nice (to me)

well I gotta emailing stating my supercat should be here on the 12th and the JIC is just getting packaged today an will be shipped tomorrow that means I probably won't receive it till next week sometime...I sure hope I'm pleased w/the sound, just worried it might be to loud for my taste...If it is prob will sell & invest in one w/resonator...

Are the install instructions that come w/the JIC pretty straight forward?

if you need instructions to install the JIC exhaust then you're probably not qualified to install it on your own

mazdaparts.com is the cheapest from what I researched on but something is wrong w/there site or my computer & I couldn't checkout & place my order so did some more searching and found this site http://www.nyxracing.com/titanium-exhaust-p-3856.html they seem to be the next cheapest

Yeah but I really would like to do the install myself, it's fun, save a hella lot more money, and you pickup alot by trying things on your own.

Install is straightforward like most other cat-backs, all bolting on/off. Worst comes to worst just pay a local shop ~$100 to do the job.

Look for a used one if you want a deal, I picked mine up with ~300mi for $600.

the price of Ti has shot up, last year you could have bought one for $1200 or less

i just called Tanabe USA, according to them the Ultra Medallion weighs 24lbs

the JIC full titanium is about 17lbs.

so now the question is, how much is about 7lbs worth? the JIC is up to $500 more, depending on where you get each.
