Just how fast is the turbo RX8
Since no one has gone to the track yet with their turbo RX8, it is hard for someone who has never driven in one to have a good idea of just how fast it is. Dyno charts only provide so much info. So to put it in perspective for those of us who are considering purchasing one, but not yet sure if the power increase is worth $5k, how would you estimate the RX8 compares to its competition post turbo. Please only provide input if you actually have a good idea of how fast the following cars are, preferably driven one.
Evo
STI
G35
VW VR6
and even though it's not really competition Mustang GT any body style, but specify which you are using.
or feel free to specify another.

I bet a turbo rx8 could be beaten by a guy in a stock Ford focus.
Driver. That's the key. It's impossible to say which car would be faster w/o accounting for the driver.
Expect, if you must expect, 1/4 Mile trap speeds in the low 100s...like 100-105mph. To find out how that compares to the cars on your list, get their trap speeds. The car with the higher trap speed is generally 'faster' in real-world situations, where 'the launch' factor is removed.

Ok dmp, how about I rephrase his question to eliminate any technicalities:
"How would you estimate the RX8 compares to its competition post turbo, given that the same driver is driving each car?"

0-60 on the only greddy turbo AT that I know of was 6.4 (with his stock being 8.8) on maxed duty cycle injectors. Not sure what it ran after further tuning. Being that it's an auto rotary, it doesn't launch very well, so the MT will always get the jump out of the hole.
I bet trap speeds would be a different story.

I don't really know how to compare it against other cars, but the thing to remember with the 8 is that it's not really a drag car. It's more of an autocross car, handling is it's strong point, not 1/4 mile. If you want a 1/4 mile car you are probably better off with something else. Although I have done up against Mustangs a couple times at red lights and came out the winner each time, it's more on how far the other driver is willing to push it on a public road. My friend has a STI WRX Ralley Edition and I'm gonna race him one of these days, and I'll let you know. I'm sure he will blow me out of the water.

Sheesh, he just wants to know if the damn turbo'd 8 will feel as fast as an Evo or whatever, not "if Driver A is driving car C will Car B go faster too 100 and if that is the case Car D will always be faster to 60 if Driver Z is in Car F" For christ sake this forum is getting on my nerves. If I ever drive a turbo Rx8, I will let you know how it "Feels" compared to the cars you mentioned. Good question, because since I dont know anyone around me that can give me a ride in a turbo 8 I have to base on what it would be like from driving other cars.

Sorry that bothers you...that's reality.

Also, only a handful of members have gone FI, but if the thread starter would actually look in the right forum (Major HP Upgrade) and read some threads the members who went FI have posted their feelings numerous times. There are even a few videos posted and dyno sheets.

so has there been an answer for how fast one is yet...just wait till one of them goes to the local drag strip..it's startng to warm up so i'm sure someone will go soon..but if you realyl can't wait go here http://rx7.com/accel_calculator.html# teh turbo'd 8's should be in the high 13 to mid 13 sec range (depending on what else they have done) give or take of coarse as this is only an approximation.

Cam, you are correct my post did not help the original thread starter, but it just gets tiresome when anyone asks a simple question everyone bashes them or basically talks down to them instead of providing a simple answer. The question was pretty simple, and you helped drive the point home. Since there are so few that have FI on their 8's the people that do not get a chance to get a ride in one (most of us) would like to have something to compare it to. I can go test drive an EVO or Mustang all day long. So compared to the cars that I CAN drive, what does it feel like. He was not asking for timeslips because they really tells you nothing about how it feels. A Viper and my Cousins 600+ hp 3000GT VR4 can run pretty close to the same trap speed, but they build their speed alot differently and feel alot differently. He was just trying to get an idea to compare the feeling so he can do what alot of us are probably doing, imagining what it would be like. Instead he gets "it will do 0-60 in blah blah seconds" or "well the 1/4 mile is blah blah" And I am sure he knows how it handles so there was no point in the comments of get V8 if you want stoplight to stoplight speed. I would prefer more power, and when I get back from Iraq I plan on getting an 8 and going with the best FI kit I can find. I dont want to drag race it, or race stop light to stop light, but I do enjoy driving through the mountains and on those 2 lane back roads I would like enough power to pass the slow tourists and enjoy the handling! So the point, I wish people on this forum would stop being such jerks most of the time and just answer the question, or dont post.

Hm....I answered his post, after I slapped his pee-pee for asking a dumb question

Guys, give it up. I tried to get this same question answered a while back so that people could compare various kits with one another, and the only answer I got was "it depends." So give it up, no one wants to (or can!) answer this question.
But here's what I'M going to do. I have a good friend with a 300+ WRX who I will be visiting the track with as soon as I get my FI... whichever flavor it may be... and we'll get some definitive evidence on how the FI'd RX-8 compares to a baseline car.
