i was wonder if the k&n intake actually give you that 10hp that is claims i heard some people say it dont just gives off a nice sound and thats bout it

It absolutely doesn't give you 10hp... your an idiot if you believe that, no intake for our car gives anything close to 10hp... The intakes that have been tested and shown to give you a slight increase are the AEM and the REVI w/duct, but even that is at top end.....
by the way the K&N is a short ram intake, and is well known to heat soak under the hood!

I will say the Version 1 suck MAJOR ***** ! Why? For those who hang out around here long enough should know that I had Version 1 before. Its loud as those Civic, and it actually made my 8 worst. good god I sold it to somebody on ebay LOL !
Version 2 is a BIG improvement(compare to Ver. 1), Much improved heatshield, not complete, but you can FEEL the differents, and when your car moves, your intake will only take Cold air from the front cuz it keep pushing stuff to the back. (simple physics, isnt it?) Carbon Fiber intake, not bad not bad.
200 something is alright I guess. Why ppl dont like it cuz I guess their Version 1 fuxked themself up so bad.
10 HP? I dont think so either. Maybe something like 5 the most. I have no idea how they get that 10 HP from.

^ Oh i wasn't bad mouthing K&N products, but I just lost trust in them, when I had my AT 8, the Version 1 made my car feel so slushy, and it was loud like a japanese crotch rocket......at first I was going to buy the K&N Version 2 to give them another shot, but after seeing that guy (lurch)'s post about the AEM i went with that one.... but buy whatever makes you happy

I know, I was about to jump to Racing beat when I got my K&N version 1 .....
but I was like maybe I can give them another shot ? I mean K&N "should" notice the problem and fix it right in the Version 2. since I've never seen any BIG company to change their product design in such a short time, so something is REALLY wrong with the original design, and it should be ok in the second 1 ....
Im ok with my Version 2. I just cleaned it today. Easy on and off.

i dont like how the aem goes down in front of the grill+ more chances of it sucking in water or getting wet going over puddles. revi or k&n for me.i think the k&n sounds the best nice and deep.

I am one of the lucky owners of the first versions. Easy fix. Remove the filter from intake neck. Place it on the driveway, standing on its opening. Take three steps back and two steps to the left. Raise your left arm. Run at it and kick it to the curb. Before you do that run down to Auto Zone and buy the Power Adder Filter. It is somewhat like the version 2. Take both space rings out of the Power Adder. Use the rubber connector from the old filter Type 1, to be used as a spacer now. Put the spacer on the neck halfway to the mounting brace. Take the Power Adder Filter and work it as far as it can go. 90% of the inlet air is coming through the inverted cone. The inverted cone should be at the neck of intake. I did 3 runs. I ran it all the way out clamped, until inside cone hit neck, and midways. All the way up was the best no dought. Take your VFAD off too. That way cool air duct is always open. The MAF sensor is a woman. If I had my stock box I would run that. The intake is the last thing to mess with on this car. 100% of the problem is ECU. It just does not like cetian air flows. If I had my stock system, I would run it.

I have the K&N ver. 2, and will be installing the RB duct this weekend to hopefully improve, and cool, air flow. I've also thought about making an enclosure around the filter element, essentially like the revi + duct, just less $$, and make the top of plexi glass.

I just took off my k&n filter just to see how dirty it was after about 5k miles. Came off in 30 seconds only one clamp! Well it was pretty dirty a couple of bugs and lots of sand. Maybe the racing beat duct sucks up alot of dirt!

The AEM? well the AEM is in front of the bumper so you have to remove the front bumper, since the filter is dry flow you dont need a recharger kit, all you do is just wash it with water and allow to sun dry or blow dry it, put it back on and your all set!
