K&N Gen 2 intake

Hey all. I have searched the topic already, but most of the threads that come up are outdated and don't give definite answers to my question.

Does anyone have any experience with this intake? I bought my car and the seller threw in an AEM intake. After poking around I figured out it is a K&N gen 2. I know a lot of intakes don't do anything other than make the car louder, and can even reduce performance. I am going to be upgrading everything on the car in order to upgrade performance, and will most likely be buying a new intake anyway, but for the time being, will swapping in this intake have any negative effect?

If I am reading this correctly right now the car has the K&N gen 2 intake installed right now. And the seller of the car gave you an AEM intake. The AEM intake is a much better intake, the K&N intske is garbage.

maybe you guys can help me with my question. i have a mazdaspeed cold air intake. its not on the car because i dont like the idea of taking of the bumper and bumper reinforcement to install it. i heard it only delivers about 2 to 3 extra horsepower to the car which is garbage. someone is willing to trade me a k&n typhoon intake which is said to add about 11 horsepower. does anyone have experience with these two intakes? im deciding whether i should trade it or not and if the k&n really does supply that much horsepower.

The injen intake gives 16Hp!

Now do a search on why you shouldn't trade the best intake for the rx8 for a K&N piece of garbage though

Neither intake is going to give you a significant gain. BTW people love talking **** on the K&N. I say whatever floats your boat.

If you do your research you will find a lot of people having iddle problems and **** like that and of course losing power from the stock intake. Any intake but the aem or MS are ****, they make you lose power, and give you problems

They are the same. Get the cheapest one.
The major benefit is the reduced weight over stock, especially if you remove the airbox tray, and the increased flow through the radiator.
