K&N Typhoon Intake System

I'm bidding on one - but the actual picture vs. the stock photo from K&N looks different, I'm worried. Does anyone have a fairly new setup that might be able to provide a picture of the actual installed unit - basically I'm wondering if they've changed the filter type or not? Thanks!!!!

P.S. The one I'm bidding on is used, how or what will I need to clean the filter if it needs it?

^^ that is the newer version of the typhoon. the original version had a much larger filter and was prone to cause some problems. to clean it you can just buy the K&N Recharger Kit and that has cleaner and oil.

Well I was outbid. I'm kinda' happy about that, not going to bid again. I don't want a unit that could cause issues - I may just go with an AEM - I've always had great luck with them. Had an AEM on my Legacy I just traded, and on my del Sol S - love em - they work great...not always the best fit though...haha....oh and I had one on my OBS. Now to figure CAI or SRI???

Yea i ordered my AEM about a week and a half ago... still waiting on it... I prefer that out of all the intakes. If your not gonna stay stock id recommend that but thats just my opinion.

Awesome!!! Let me know how you like it, and how difficult the installation is. I was reading on there site it's a 4 hour process!!! LOL - My Subaru Outback Sport was tricky enough...good day off project!

4 hours?

make that 1, if you know what u're doing.

You have to take your front bumper out, and it takes like 10 minutes.

Ok, good to know. I'll be looking at 1-1.5 then - like to take my time.

My Subaru took me about 2 - then again I had to take off the tire, and inner fender - oh and it was in the winter, the temp's hit 35 and it felt like a heat wave compared to the prior week of -15, haha. Although in the cold I find I move a bit slower, boy my boss was pissed...I started on my lunch hour with intentions to finish within the hour, 2.5 hours in finishing up, he comes out - this isn't a garage - you almost done!!?? LOL Oops - good enough natured guy though, he got over it...haha...

Yeah, me and a friend are probably going to put it on this weekend. I have a lot of work to do though so its going to be hard. The Nationwide Tour(golf) is at our course in greenville for the BMW pro am so i will be doing a whole lot more work there than normal this weekend. Check it out on the golf channel! But yeah I'm sure its gonna take me a while to do it...
