K&N Typhoon Intake V2 (before I get started)

Ordered the Typhoon Intake V2 from a member on here and it should be arriving shortly, just wanted to know if there is anything specific that I should know before getting started. I have gotten off the stock intake just to clean the inside filter before but never undone the whole thing. I have to step by step directions as well to install, but any pointers on things that may have tripped you up in the process? Just want it to go as smooth as it should. Thanks!

mine didnt come with MAF screws that bolt the MAF down to the new intake tube. So halfway through the install i had to call my friend to take me to the hardware store, that was about it.

I used the screws that came with the stock intake for my MAF and had no troubles?

The only thing that tripped me up when I installed it was it was a bit of a pain to get the heatshield bolted down on the passenger side. I ended up using a really long (and skinny) extension on a ratchet and ran it through the hole on top of the heatshield that the engine cover mounts to. Outside of that it was pretty straight forward and K&N's instructions helped me out.

I noticed that right after I installed the intake when I revved the car the RPMs would drop and it'd act like it wanted to die. After a spin around the block that problem went away.

The only thing I suggest is a week after the intake has been installed take your MAF out and clean it. Mine had quite a bit of oil from the new K&N filter on it. After I cleaned it that one time it's never built up on there again.

I love the intake and I've had no problems with it whatsoever. It's been on there for a couple of months now. The noise it makes is insanely awesome and insanely loud as well.

thats why you screw it in with your hands first and then tighten it with a socket wrench.

that is normal, because you changed intakes, you have to do a soft reset of the ECU, turn off the car, turn the key to ACC then tap the brake 20 times as fast as you can. if you do it correctly the oil gauge will go to empty and go back to normal. although this is not necessary, it would be recommended on top of cleaning the MAF sensor too.

i would agree, all the BS on the forum about loosing power is crap, unless you actually measure it somehow, a normal driver or daily driven car wouldnt notice the difference in power other than the loud sound.

Very easy install. Straight forward. Just follow the instructions from the manufacture.

I ended up doing that a few days later to cover all my bases since I thought the car was idling a little lower than it did before the intake. Ends up I was just thinking too much. lol

How? There's no vacuum to pull air up into the intake. Or are you saying that it routes more air into the intake itself just by being there?

Didnt this intake actually cause the car to lose 1-2hp on the dyno? They sound great but i would at least get the RB duct to help somewhat with the hot air being pulled in.

Exactly it routes more air to the intake while moving. I like the k&n because it allows me to mount the zex module on the backside of the shroud for a super stealthy look.

Sorry I don't have pics of the duct on, you can't really see the duct enough to geta good picture. The rb duct takes place of the v fad but allows more air to come to the intake

idk if you are directing that towards me or toneskii, but I have FELT somewhat of a drop in low end power. needless to say it's nothing that much, love the sound, but in high RPM's I get through the gears quicker. I'm very happy with it.
