Knight Sports ECU

I was playing around on the web and found on the Knight Sports Website their ECU replacement for the J-Spec RX-8. Anyone know anything about this?

price, availability, will it work with the A-Spec ?

http://www.knightsports.co.jp/whatsnew-index.html

I used one of those cheezy free online translators from the Japanese version of the website and it said that it raised the HP on the J-Spec (248 hp) about 13 hp so it would bring it up to ~261 at the crank ??

It's probably just a re-tuned ECU. It probably won't work with the USDM PCM. You can get the same, if not better results with a piggyback device, such as the Canzoomer, or e-manage.

But its already tuned for the J-spec so wouldnt it give us the most amount of HP gains?

Like I said earlier, it probably won't be compatible with our engine. I believe the JDM and USDM engines have different emissions control devices, along with some other functions. Either way, don't expect much power to be gained from a re-programmed PCM. The Knight Sports, FEED, etc. PCM is just another control device. You can expect gains, even decent ones, as long as you can tune the thing. That's why I said to invest in something more accessible, and easier to tune, like the CZ, e-manage, etc.

Has anyone tried this ECU on a US 8 yet?
Probably not!!!
So how would anybody know if it will or won't work?
Not trying to start anything, just asking a question?

what happens when the dealer service decides you need a re-flash? at some point we will see a new pcm calibration. when they flash you with say an "N" flash it will just wipe out whatever is on the knightsports ecu.
