Logic behind the Racing Beat Exhaust upgrade?
Greetings all:
My most recent mod to my car includes the Rotary Performance SuperCAT (badass by the way) my next step I'm considering is the Racing Beat REV8 exhaust however the thing that has me worried is the fact that the whole unit is 10lbs heavier then the stock unit. Now I'm not one to normally care of that kinda stuff but from the very modest gaines in power with the Racing beat unit 3.5HP according to RB on their site... wouldnt the extra 10lbs of weight negate the 3.5HP gain? In effect the RB unit would be a 650 dollar noise maker? (noisemaker bascially accenting my already beefier sound due to the SuperCAT)
I don't doubt the Racing Beat unit is badass, as i've read from several peoples reviews of it on this site, however with my already installed SuperCAT i'm trying to figure out wether I should get the RB Exhaust or invest that money in a 24" Dell Widescreen monitor
Thanks!
Jeff

yeah -- I didn't think about new tips, I'm pretty satisfied with the sound right now. The racing beat has the sound I wanted, but I can't justify spending almost 700 dollars for just a little bit of noise difference and more weight.
Any reccomendations on places to get tips that will fit the rX8?

Although i have no clue what the second one even looks like connected to an RX, it looks like its a single muffler peice.

Remove that stuff in the trunk and save 10lbs. That jack and repair kit. Plus the RP cat is about 10lbs lighter than the stock cat! = Hey you almost saved 20lbs!
The RB exhaust & RP cat are a match made in heaven, as far as sound. IMO

I'd like to retain the weight savings I have already gained... it's just the more i think about it, i can't justify spending 650 dollars for a really nice exhaust that weighs more, gives almost no gain. I'm not saying I don't want to buy it, but I might just go for the monitor first and wait on the exhaust until i have an "extra" 600 dollars just laying around.

I wasnt disagreeing -- i too think the exaust is the best out there, but after already spending 400 on the highflow cat... (the higher of the power gains between the RP supercat and RB exhuast) I just have the fear that if i go and blow 650 dollars on the Racing Beat exhaust I woouldnt really have any "big" sound difference (since i already got a pretty nice sound with the stock exuast + RP supercat

Worrying about ten pounds is the least of the problems when going with an aftermarket exhaust. Ten pounds at the lowest possible point of the car will have, effectively, NO impact on the real or perceived performance of the car. Hanging a decent amp underneath your package shelf or installing a sub in the trunk will cause a greater performance hit than any exhaust system will, and I rarely hear anyone saying "I don't know if I should add this sub, it might affect my performance".
Nor will a 3.5hp gain, for that matter. You buy an aftermarket exhaust on the '8 for a better tone and for bragging rights, not for any noticeable gain in performance. The question you have to ask yourself is whether or not those benefits are worth $600 to you.
I'd get the monitor.

I did not think it was 10lbs when I weighed my stock and RB. I thought it was like 3 lbs. I could have forgotten though. Besides, as just mentioned, it shifts the weight down low and back, the spot you would want it the most anyway if you had to add it.

well put -- I think I have made up my mind to just keep my eye out for some nice tips (any suggestions) and go for the 24" widescreen Dell
