Making a Titanium exhaust.

Im putting together a list of parts that I need to make this exhaust happen. Im looking to buy a spare oem exhaust from someone.

what I need is some from you guys on finding where to get a titanium rear silencer/muffler. I cannot find anything useful.

Im doing this for a school project so I have about 4 months to complete it.

I need:

3" tubes
muffler
tips

what else do I need?

thanks a lot.

FYI, just in case you were not aware of this, you need special equipment to weld Ti (ie Vacum tank)

Here is the only Ti muffler I can find that is universal and not bullet style

How much weight do you expect to drop with this? Are you talking about mid-pipe and cat back, or just a cat back?

Also, looking at your sig, how do you have: "HKS RS. Tein with EDFC"?

what else do I need? I downloaded a 40 page pdf on welding titanium, and it says that its ok to weld at room temperature..and many other things. CCSF has a tig welding machine, as far as I can tell. thats all I need, along with a plasma cutter, which they have as well.

anything else? I really appreciate this help you guys, because I just got 7 feet of 3" titanium tubing for free this morning as a "sample." I told them I was a student etc etc. they were real nice about it.

Oh, makes sense...I was reading that as HKS Racing Sport coilovers...that's pretty cool, 7' of Ti for free. I thought JIC has Ti mufflers also.

Ti is the hardest material to weld, because you have to "remove" the atsmophere out of the welding area (vacum tank is the best way), not really required but you have to do it in some way. I believe there is a "skirt" for this. This skirt goes around and behind the weld and keeps the area full of Argon gas to eliminate atsmophere from the welding area till it passes the hot area. This might explain it better a bit http://www.rti-intl.com/tag/weld.htm

Another pointer is to keep the welding rod on the outter edge of the puddle or you will run the risk of getting shock. If you know how to gas weld then TIG welding is very similar. Also check on what kind of electrode you need, DCEP, DCEN, AC. I can't find my book so I can tell you if you have the right equipment. Just make sure you can switch polarity and current.

this is all I can get:

http://www.toucanindustries.com/inde...ERS&pos=0,15,3

and:

Evotion Titanium EV802

The last thing your competition will see as you blow by them is the twinkle in your taillights and shine of your exhaust tip. Let them hear and see your true power with a performance Titanium muffler from Evotion. Manufactured from pure aerospace titanium, these straight-flow mufflers are ultra lightweight and feature robotic TIG welded joints with machine ground seams. The internal main chamber has a vortex channeling system which causes the exhaust gases to spiral outward, dissipating energy and reducing sound and harshness without effecting flow. Stainless steel matting is wound around the main inner tubing, further reducing harshness and also lowering temperature inside the muffler. This protects the outer layer of high kilotex, non-metallic fiber used to reduce any resonances within the chamber. A unique modular inlet system consists of a removable stainless steel flange with gasket for ease of installation. A stainless steel hanger clamp and hardware is included, as is a removable silencer. Each muffler has a fully polished titanium finish and features a flame-treated tip for the ultimate street look
