Mazda RX8 MSD Pro Power Coil
http://modacar.com/products/Mazda/RX8/MODAIGC/
I was thinking about getting one of these, what do you guys think about em. If you look at the Pro Power Coil towards the bottom it says "Not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled motor vehicles " I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean if it's titled for an rx-8 does that make a difference. Anyway, what sort of power would come from this. If it's as good as it sounds I'd be more than willing to get the "Mazda RX8 MSD 10 Drag Racing Ignition" And post my impressions but b4 i do i'd like to know what y'all think. Would there be anything hindered in getting this, aka driveability. Thanks and hope to hear from everyone.

Dude, it's not an MSD ignition. This is AEM's CDI. Nice find though.
I think the statement means for off-road use only. You can probably see some power gains, as long as you know how to tune the thing. The best method to see whether this thing is god or not is to compare this with the stock coil pack.

If you scroll down the one he is speaking of is the MSD.
I am considering upgrading my ignition if it helps with the stock coils burning, but I need to do research first.

Well I be's a son-of-a-bitch. :o
Anyway, it even says you can't use it on a stock ignition system. You know what that means right? Good-bye PCM, hello stand-alone. :D
These aren't these power coils just capacitors? I wouldn't be interested in such useless devices, (1) because it's not street legal, and (2) I'm sure you can get away with the stock ignition control until you start getting engine power in the higher ranges.

Perhaps not the ones mentioned. They look like overkill anyway. I am more interested in the AEM unit myself and some aftermarket coils as they seem to be cheaper than the stock ones and can hold a charge better.

Yeah i called MSD today and they said they ain't got anything for the rx-8 so the other site's stuff is bogus. Boooo to that.
Anyways how would the AEM CDI Ignition help? How much if it does at all? Worth it?

I'm not saying no Snoochie. What I am saying is you'll still probably have to tune your ignition, with or without the AEM CDI. It's like all other aftermarket parts: don't expect the gains you want from just installing it. Test and tune.

Ok this may change everything..Just got some advice from tech at MSD .. This guy is a rotary nut and said he had a excellent solution that will work guaranteed. Set-up is as follows:
2 MSD part # 6302 /INFO:LINK http://www.msdignition.com/2007/light.html
4 MSD part # 8207 /INFO:LINK
http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_6_8207.htm
I'm sorry, but this looks like the way I'm gonna go now..This info provided by MSD tech was much needed
and more reliable than frankensteining it..and hoping for the best.. Sorry if this has let any members down..
I will post results / pics when completed. Expect to hear
back from me in couple weeks..

That guy is an intellectual monkey. He thinks he's doing some big project, but he and his so called "rotary experts" are only going to **** up his car. Guaranteed.
We haven't seen such a complete idiot in here in a long time.

Actually I was set on going ahead with that (guess we wont know how that would work out),but after talking to MSD tech, Ignitors and MSD blaster coils are the way to go. Hey whats "big fun" to you. If you find following me or others around and harrassing them fun..Your stay here will be short (patience are wearing thing). Look lighten up a bit. No one deserves this kind of ridicuel, harrassment or wasted thread space on this site.. nycgps (this goes for you too)

so you are saying my first post about the vette coils was correct???
as to me following you around harassing you.. find the posts where i did that...you have been the king of that topic..
my stay here will be short?? ok, whos patience is wearing thin???? yours?
are you going to ban me????
why dont you stop posting on your coil project for a day, or maybe just post on it when you get it done..
you have started what 3 or 4 threads on the same thing, one of which is gone. figure that out...
so far the advice and opinions given to you have been correct, your ideas have not worked.. the msd might, but the problem with that is chrisrx8 has done most of it. it is just not ready for sale..
