Mazdaspeed Dual exhaust Weight and RX8 Store highflow cat weight
After doing search after search, it seems nobody bothered to weigh the exhaust.
so to make it easier for people who are doing a search for the weight of the exhaust I figured I would start a new thread.
Today my mazdaspeed exhaust came in, and the exhaust looks great! and the best part is it weighs 33 Lbs. Which is almost 7lbs off the stock exhaust!
Also, the Rx8 store high flow cat is 11 lbs 5 oz.

Does the weight really make a difference in performance? The RX-8 isn't exactly built to be fast from low weight. 20 or even 7 pounds might make a difference on a Lotus Elise or Exige but I doubt it would on our cars. If you want to save weight delete your AC (unless it gets very hot where you live in the summer). Also, lighter flywheels make a huge difference on cars - especially in 1st gear. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like the bigger pipe would be more to look at than weight for performance.

On average for most cars, every 100 lbs is ~ 0.1 sec off the quarter mile.
The AC doesn't weigh anything really.
Best place to remove weight, for the most difference, would be rotational weight (ie wheels, tires, etc.). But in reality it ALL adds up. Remove 7 lbs from exhaust, 20 lbs from wheels, maybe a few from lighter tires, cut the fat in other places... it will all add up eventually. I've gotten up to 50 or 60 (can't remember) pounds so far just from exhaust and other simple things. Full interior, nothing noticeable gone, and still have stock wheels/tires.

With FULL interior, my car weighs in at 2890 Lbs and thats with the Greddy turbo kit.
so my answer to your question, yes it makes a HUGE difference. When you add everything up, you would be suprised in how much weight you can take off the 8 and still have it look normal.

its anODYSSEY Drycell PC 680 MJT
Here's a link to their web site
http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680mjt.htm
I have been running it for 2nd summer now and I have no problems with starting up the car. I drive my car only during the summer time, so I dont know how well the battery would perform when it gets cold. Also its around $80US so its not that expensive as the Braille battery
