Meth Injection?

Hey... I'm new to the rotary engine... just picked up an 07 with 30k, 6 speed... love it so far. Looking to do some basic mods, intake, exhaust, mid pipe, etc. I work at a shop in Kingston MA, Autosports on 3A... if anyones from the area stop by. I can get pretty good prices on methanol injection kits by snow performance... not a major power increase but I have heard some good things on other cars. Anybody try this or somthin similar on their 8? I was also wondering if there would be any problems doing this with the rotary engine and oiling system?

Thanks for the help.

The forum status quo dictates that I tell you to search but I will provide some key threads to start you off since you are new here:

Short story is aside from cleaning off carbon deposits there is no reason to run methanol on an NA engine and according to MM who has a ton of hands on experience in the matter it is better off to not run it even after going FI since it causes partial combustion in the exhaust manifold and can damage your exhaust ports over time.

Also, in your future searches I'd advise using google with your search prefixed with "site:rx8club.com" rather than the in-forum search tool.

my experience with alky water injection as follows

car: 87 pontiac fiero
engine : L35 code w 4.3 liter 90* v6 gm engine (9.5:1 compression)
200 hp @ 4600 rpm
260 ft/lbs @ 3600 rpm

GMC Syclone intake and fuel management
T04B H3 compressor with a hyprid T31/Ptrim turbine section

the most boost I could run with about 3* KR* was about 8 psi
adding the water/alky injection allowed me to run 12psi
adding an air to water intercooler with the water/alky
and seriously tuning for all the above allowed 18 psi

before the forced induction and just running water injection
i could run the lowest octane gas and still have less KR than
running the best Sunroof had.
so yes it works and yes its easy to install.. the stock RX8 windshield washer tank
is perfect.

*KR = Knock retard
