i have a frend with a 5.125 final gear max speed 255 kmh in e moment the finam gear whith the ecu performance its absolutli perfect for track, but for me and a street conduccion and hiway the speed is to limited and the fuell goss faster.

i think the 4.777 its a perfect compromis.

befor turbos or expensiv install its a good way to star and if you have the rest os the parts, like main exhaust, cat. converter, exaust, fli weel, pulleys, induccion, and ecu program the finish is apsolutli perfect.
i love N.A cars i dont like the turbos, now i have a performance with out loos fiabiliti and N.A sansations.

well i think it does my a good amount of differnce if RAB 8 put 2 cars on a WRX from a roll thats pretty good.. There is no way we could do that with a stock 8

If you want to compare the effects of a gear change, do it on the same car, before/after...otherwise it's not a very scientific comparison. Besides the extra body kit and body bracing of the MS car, the engine might have rolled off the assembly line making a little less HP in the first place. Production variations and all that.

When you run the 1/4 though, what gear do you finish in? If you went too far with a shorter gear, you might have to use an extra shift, which might be enough to negate the benefits of the gear (although you'd still have a better 0-60). Other than that, I can't think of what else would make the MS slower.

On an ideal run you shift into 4th gear right as you end the quartermile. My best MPH at the end of the 1/4 was 94.55, I believe 95mph is the absolute max berfore the fuel cut in 3rd gear.

^well i've been bored so according to my calculations (final drive 4.444, 3rd gear 1.65:1, tire diamitor on 225/45/r18 = 26.1" red line at 9200rpm).....top speed in 3rd is 97.54 mph......but that does account for wind resistance or anything

and everytime i did the 1/4 i switched right at the finish into 4th as well..some times a lill befor depending on how crappy i did.

andorra, spain there is now 1/4 mile in france i have to look for it.

Good point!

But what about GT track events? I think you might be better off going around corners on 18's.

Wow - 255 kilometer/hour = 158.449654 mile/hour (mph)

I would love to find out who makes the Feed 4.777 Gears.
