There is a simple solution to the CEL... its called a spark plug defouler (aka a O2 spacer) you buy (or make) a spacer that screws into the O2 bung and then you plug the sensor into the spacer and there is enough heat to keep the sensor in its range and the sensor is pulled out of the direct air flow and wont detect all the air and it will read within the clean range and not signal the CEL.

There is a whole thread about about the fowler you are talking about. It doesn't work, everybody trips the CEL at some point. Whether it be two miles down the road or a 1,000.

Everybody that trips it prob runs one spacer, The exhaust on a rotary runs exceptionally hotter compared to a normal car so on a rx7 or 8 your going to need to run 2 defouler. I personally have yet to do it to my rx8 but the 2 local FD's around here run double defoulers and dont have a CEL

^^I have read threads on here and other forum web sites, and they are running one and two fowlers. It seems in the end, everyone trips the CEL. But, if you have found a way to make it work, let me know. I want to get a midpipe but damn emissions are holding me back. I am trying to design a circuit to act as the second 02, but using two fowlers with one having the correct drill whole size is a much easier and cost effiecient way.

O, well out of the 2 FD's i know about that have used 2 foulers, one has had it done for a long *** time (as in like over 4 years) with no CEL and im not sure about the other FD as far as length its been in.

Accessport takes care of your CEL problem but a tad more expensive than a defouler however get a better gain!

With the accessport, do you have any problems getting through emissions?

SO even though you are throwing a CEL, its not hurting performance? Thought you needed like a accessport or something to run a catless midpipe?

Also, if they stick a sniffer in the rear like they do in Cali. you will for sure fail. Not sure how many states do this during emission tests, but in Cali. they are pretty stringent with a visual inspection, sniffer, etc.

In MD they just plug into your car computer and download the history. Unless, you have a 96 or less car. Then they have to bring out the sniffer

Luckily in Arkansas they don't do testing so i run a catless midpipe, really needing a tune though cuz its running pretty rich lol and the smoke doesn't look good on chilly mornings
