There's a 90% chance that it'll throw a CEL.

i figured that... i guess i am going to have to get an exhasut then, because I really dont want to deal with looking at a flashing TPMS light as well as a CEL

MM got his car tuned and was able to keep his CEL off, even with a midpipe if I believe.

heh. MM has no CEL, either do I, but both of us have turbos.

Before the turbo, my catless midpipe gave me a CEL.

btw, the TPMS light will eventually give up and turn a solid color instead of flashing. You can also get a round black sticker and place it over the light so you don't see it.

and im assuming the midpipe throws a CEL because it sees the increase in temp and flow of gases? or AFR?

I wasnt sure if it corelated to the turbo or not, why I threw it out there.. BTW. Nice idea on the covering of the TPMS light..

100% CEL w/ Midpipe...

The reason turbos do not have a CEL...is because they tuned the car...

An exhaust would have nothing to do with your catless midpipe throwing a CEL. If you don't want a CEL, then go for the RP Super Cat.

I still have stock exhasut... was thinking of getting just a mid pipe and keeping the stock exhaust. But if it were to throw a CEL then I would just get an exhaust and keep the stock cat. Follow me?

I guess the question would be what are you trying to do ? If it is for sound then by all means get the cat back exhaust. But if you are looking for hp gain, the cat back exhaust by itself will only net you a few hp at best. Best combination (without throwing a CEL) IMO is a hi-flow cat with a decent catback exhaust. Will net you in the 6-10 hp range and still sound good but not throw a CEL.

well i have driven 150 miles now with my B&B midpipe with no CEL... only light on the dash is my airbag because my seat change... maybe it will eventually but havnt had any issues yet. I have MS intake and MS v2 exhaust... maybe because i did the Headunit update programming? i have no tune so i dont think anything else would affect it. unless my o2 sensor is rigged somehow but i wouldnt know of it...

Headunit update, what the hell are you talking about??

If your 8 is a 2004 then there is a good chance you have a lazy PCM that doesn't give a **** (i.e. it's variablitly levels are greater than the strignent levels of the 8's made after yours)

It takes easily over 100+ miles before my CEL goes off. After an ECU reset the same thing happens.

Reason being that the ECU is taking samples over time to determine what is going on. It will not just throw the CEL immediately.

Finally, after having the CEL for a while, it will "disappear"...and then "reappear" later.

If you do not have it yet...and are not running FI, then all you have to do is wait...
