midpipe install

what is the freaking trick to getting the stock cat out of the rubber hangers? is it possible to just cut them off because i wont be using them when i put on my midpipe.

also, how do you get a bolt out if the nut is stripped just a little?

Haha, this took me forever as well. Get some wd40 or some lube and soak that rubber puppy down. For the bolts, make absolutly postively sure you have the right size wrench, one size to small won't fit, too big will strip(I think its somewhere between 13-17 mm, then use a breaker bar on the wrench and you should be able to get the nuts off with some elbow grease. Also, lube them up too!

Or, if it is stripped really bad, you could alwasy have a shop take it off for you in two seconds. I had to get that done when I stripped my alternator bolt.

I used Dawn Dishwasher soap and two screwdrivers to get it off the rubber hangers

ok awesome the wd40 worked for the rubber hanger but now im pretty sure i have a stripped nut that connects the front of the cat to the header. i am using a 9/16 wrench and the nut is on there so tight i cant get it to even budge. i already got one of the front ones out but there are 2 more and the 3rd one is hard to get to. i want to get the stripped one out first so i dont mess up my wrench so much that the 3rd one is a bitch to get out. any suggestions? i really dont wanna take it to a shop just for them to cut the bolt out because i already have all of the other bolts out...

if it is the only bolt on there, and you can move the cat, use the cat as a breaker bar to bend and break the bolt, otherwise, just take a sawsall to cut it right off. i will be doing this in a couple days, i hope my bolts dont give me trouble

Or if you don't want to go to a shop, just ask someone you know locally who has the tools for this kind of stuff, I'm sure they'd be more than willing to help you, I had to do that a few times when I didn't have the right size wrench or whatever.
