Midpipes and headers
so i am looking o increase horsepower on my 8 , already have the typhoon in and was thinking of first getting a new midpipe, it would need to be able to pass inspection though, any thoughts on which one is best? same with headers... thanks

I dont think any midpipe is going to pass an inspection. However, its not a hard install so you could always swap the stock cat back in for inspection.
The two midpipes everybody is waiting for are the Racing Beat and BHR.
I would go with the Racing Beat header. The Exoticspeed looks nice as well.

It's going to depend on the inspection itself. My experience has been those people doing the inspection have no idea what they are looking for half the time. A resonator could easily be mistaken for a cat. Some cats are built on the headers instead of a midpipe. I can't speak for places other than the US though.
If you have the accessPORT you'll pass emissions. We had a local guy here with a turbo charged automatic pass with no issues. They just hook up to the computer and check for codes. When they see none, they pass you.

From New Jersey I have heard various stories from people.
My brother's 3000GT SL after a twin turbo install with straight pipe(no cats) passed inspection because all that inspection station did was OBD2 to check for CEL's and my brother cleared the OBD2 codes before going to inspection.
Another kid I know said that his car got a sensor plugged on his tailpipe and the OBD2
Someone else said the inspection guy saw 4inch tips on his camaro, The guy asked what was done to the car. The kid said a catback. The guy was like uh you pass.
I really think it depends on the station.
But if your question is will headers and a midpipe allow you to pass inspection (OBD2 and smog on tail pipe) most likely no. With an AccessPORT you can clear the CEL's. But the midpipe is not hard to pop back on for inspection.

well if they do a smog/emissions test(5/4 gas maching) u wont pass will have way too many HC's and CO's readings....but I'm moving to NC and I know they have emissions and just gonna keep my stock cat for emission testing purposes
