I have the SR Motorsports hi-flow cat with resonator. Yes, the resonator lowers the sound of the exhaust. On my piece it was attached behind the cat & is slightly larger diameter- wise than the standard piping. I didn't see that in the picture of the B&B midpipe. Doesn't mean it is not there though.

Rotary Performance in Garland, Texas is testing their High Flow CAT Midpipe also. It is not on their website yet, but you might wait to see what the price will be. I am also ordering one. I had the SR on order, then cancelled it because when I ordered it, they did not have the resonator option. Now that they do have the resonator, I am back looking at which flows the best with the least amount of sound level increase.

Why not just buy a catco cat and a summit racing straight muffler, weld it in there - a lot of the RX-7 guys weld a second muffler into the exhaust because it gets loud, and the summit racing one is straight through, whatever diameter and inlet/outlet you want. Same with the cat.

This is a Super Flow CAT midpipe. Extremely light and the latest CAT technology. It is not CARB certified yet, so it might not pass emissions. But, I live in a county that does NOT require checks :D

I will be the first to run one outside of RP's shop in Texas. Only the owner of the shop is running one currently, and he said it is awesome and does not throw CEL's.

I'll go back after the install and pull anothr dyno for results.

Sounds sweet.

Youre in Thurston county right?

Do you know off hand if King co. requires checks? (Moved from AZ 5 years ago and havent had to deal with WA emissions yet)

Yep - Thurston

Currently King, Pierce, and Spokane counties requre testing. If I ever need to test in the future, I'll just put my old CAT back on for the test.

I've been looking all day for the answer to a question and haven't found it, so if you guys could help I'd appreciate it.

There seems to be a decent increase in HP with a midpipe, but from what I've heard (and read on racin beat's website) there isn't much of a HP difference between a midpipe and a hi-flow cat. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
Based on this and the fact that I a) like horsepower, b) don't want to wake the neighborhood and c) desire a deeper tone, could someone point me in the right direction?

Also, I have the CZ and plan on tuning it for stage II and I know at least a high-flow is necessary.

There probably isn't THAT much of a difference at all. Except in price. I would have gone with the high flow cat. if I could have gotten the deal I got on the B&B.
I'm sure it is louder w/o the cat.

So, from quietest to loudest:
all stock
high-flow cat, resonator, stock exhaust
high-flow cat, no resonator, stock exhaust
midpipe, resonator, stock exhaust
stock cat, aftermarket exhaust
midpipe, no resonator, stock exhaust (I wouldn't even dream of it with an aftermarket exhaust).

Was I close?

I want it deeper and a little louder.

Yep, that is about right. I loved the sound of my car when I had just the RB cat back exhaust. When I got the SR Motorsports hi-flow cat & resonator it got a little too loud for my tastes. Now with the turbo on it is quieter again.

Nemesis, let us know how the hi-flow cat works. Sounds like a really good piece.
