more exhaust advice.
i know i know read the threads, well i have read an *** load of threads on exhausts and diff. brands and whats good whats not good and everyone says something different about each. well im in the market for an exhaust. i have pretty much narrowed it down to two. unless you guys have better advice on what to do or which one to get but the two i am tryin to decide on is:
HKS hi power: its cheap for an exhaust but its only on the one side which im sceptacle about because idk how lame it would look when the stock is dual ya know?
the other
Greddy sp2 catback: so far im leanin towards this one its sounds pretty sweet and you pretty much cant go wrong with Greddy.
but if anyone can help me out i appreciate it
and also. i dont want to go too much over the $700 dollar range.

Buy Borla.
Edit: I had the stock cat with the Borla exhaust for about a year before I put on a midpipe.. Borla itself really opens up the sound into a Vtttt vttttt vttttttttt... kinda sound.. like a chainsaw. They claim large (unlikely) power gains but the look, quality (better steel) and sound are excellent. It's a little bit more expensive than what you want to spend but keep an eye on the Parts for sale section.. All of the exhausts pop up every now and then.

If you have two, why would you ever.....
Everybody can see you had two, but went to one - it looks like a
(never mind - your mind seems made up, go for it, but I told ya so....)

I have been happy with the GReddy, but if I could do it over again I would get the AP complete set aka midpipe and catback. I'll be getting rid of my GReddy eventually and moving up to something with a 3" pipe.

i havnt herd much about the AP i looked it up and watched some vids on it. sounded good kinda, raspy anyone have one...what do you think of it?
#12
ok well i still have been lookin and searchin around and there are a ton of different ones to choose from...i dont know if ill go with the hks anymore or any that just have one tip. so for right now im thinkin the greddy sp2...im gettin my taxes pretty soon and ill be installing it myself. any more advice on any exhaust you think i should get...or the one i have in mind thanks
#15
no i do not...but that's what i'm set on getting. The exhaust note sounds good (youtube can provide you w/that) and the look is clean. I'm not sure what the piping is, but i can't imagine it being worse than sp2's. (not saying the sp2 is bad in anyway)

Right now i have a lot on my plate (aka mod-list) that i gotta get done by July - so hopefully before then. A lot of vendors have this exhaust at a great price - you should check it out and pm them for the club price. It's usually around the 600-700 range - which is a killer deal for a Ti-Tip exhaust.
#18
yeah deff. thats the range im going for any ways. i just pm'd this one dude on it he had a deal going back in dec. i saw some guys have been pm'ing him as late as yesterday so i figured i would give him a try cant remember the dudes name tho...what do you got planned for july if you dont mind me askin...my car is stock all the way

as of right now - it's gonna be mostly cosmetic
Body kit *secret* + get it painted
Trunk spoiler *secret* + get it painted
Get some new tires for my wheels *secret*
Exchange my oem cat for a midpipe
and if the finances allow, the greddy s/e
all this before July should run me around 4k
p.s. - i'm only saying secret because i haven't seen anybody try this w/their 8 yet, so i don't want anybody to beat me to the punch

Yo NACer4lyf - I was caught up with the same issue a few months ago: Greddy SP2 vs. HKS Hi Power.
The HKS sound gives me chills it sounds so evil and sexy! It's a sound that's just really primal and satisfying. It's also light weight and cheaper than the Greddy. I would've definitely got this exhaust if I wasn't so damn vain. I would not have been able to live with the empty exhaust shroud on one side.
The Greddy SP2 I bought was the second one I have purchased. I sold my original SP2 because I thought I was going to sell the car. But once I found out I was keeping the car I immediately knew I wanted the SP2 again. I love the sound of this exhaust because it sounds more gruff than throaty - it's got a great bark to it when on the gas and throttling off the gas quickly produces tight snapping pops. I also love the big tips and the clean dual cans and welds. The tips tarnish into a light tint of gold, but I have found a great solution to cleaning them. It's a great value IMHO.
So if your tuning style is more about looks, I'd say go with the Greddy. And if you're more about being a functional racer go with the HKS.
