Im gonna make it today ... BTW as with any exhaust, if you are cruising there will be no sound, but if you are giving it even a little gas obviously you will hear it.

Just turn the radio on or something. Seems kinda pointless though not wantin to hear the exhaust you spent 500 bucks on ! If anybody wants to give me their drone its cool.

will it throw a code if the cat is gutted? It doesn't matter if it wont pass emission 'cause it's registered out state.

A catback exhaust shouldn't have an effect on a CEL going off, cat or no cat. If you gut your cat then you will probably get a CEL because of that alone.

I would buy it, but I don't want any droning. I am looking for an exhaust that the only time you can tell it is there is when you floor it. Every other time, I want it to sound like stock. No droning, nothing obnoxious. Just clean and pure performance sounding exhaust when you accelerate fast. I am yet to find this exhaust.

Then unfortunatly this prolly isn't the exhaust for you them. Even with granny driving there is a noticable difference, but I love the sound personally and am 100% glad I bought it

I mean I'm 16, so a granny driving it is no issue. Just nothing obnoxious. I tried the whole sub thing, did not work out. I had to take it out and I sold it because it was so damn annoying to me. To be honest, I agree with the guy that wants it to sound like a G35. But, have it's own rotary sound to it so people would know that it isn't a Nissan.

Come down to Savannah for St Patty's day and you can hear it in person. I think that is the only way to know for sure if it is for you. Sound clips always sound differnent to me than in person.

^ It does drone up until about 3250 RPMs, then for some reason past that point it gets quiet.

Hmm, from the clip jdzoom8 posted it seems louder than what everyone has said. Its at least 5 times louder at idle than stock, and is a bit too loud for my liking. I can imagine its prob not much different from inside the car, but i want quiet in and outside.... only loud (ish) as RX8 Zoom Zoom described.

You need to remember that the camera was sitting 2-3 feet away from the tips in that video. When you are standing behind the car, there is NO WAY it is 5 times louder than stock. It has that nice rotary "glug glug" rhythm and a deep "throaty" tone, but is in no way obnoxious or "rice" sounding.

Trust, it is a quality exhaust with a quality tone. Im going to make some in car clips as well as some clips outside the car, drive-by and revving it after I GO BACK TO MAZDA AGAIN to get it straightened out.

This may have just been my car but we had some issues hanging the mufflers. The right tip is a little too high as well as too far in. This can be corrected by bending the hangers for the right muffler, but I was told it was an issue present at manufacture of the exhaust [ an error made by mazdaspeed ]

Then to be honest this is probably not the exhaust for you. You will always know it is there unless the car is idling then you really can't hear it.

i don't know why some are so hard-up on the (stock?) z/g35 exhaust note. personally i think it sounds like *** and would not want the same noise eminating from my rx8. as far as the new MS exhaust, i agree with others here: it is noticably louder than stock at certain rpm levels and does have a tendency to drone under light load situations (ie. going uphill at constant speed) but it sounds great at take-off and in the upper rpm range...doesn't look to bad either

just ordered mine today and i cant wait!! my car is undergoing an almost total revamping. i am having a replica ms kit installed, clear corners, strakes, short shifter, ebc green stuff brake pads for the front, modifying the flying m on the trunk, replacing the mazda badge on the trunk with a "MSmazdaspeed" badge, removing the rx8 badge and getting a mazdaspeed sport dual exhaust. and as soon as the rims i want become available again, i will be getting those. i cant wait to drive it!! sorry for the semi-thread jack . i am so excited!! i am like a 9 year old waiting to meet the freakin ninja turtles or something.

Yes, the tips are 3.5" and are double walled construction. They look bigger but still look like they were OEM for this car. Sound when warm is a little louder then I like but 10 years ago would have loved it. I'm starting to get use to it but would probably go with a RB if I did it again.
