My 8 Shifts too early..any fix?

Its not really an issue with the car it's just disappointing. I have an '05 8 and I will be doing 36 MPH and my car is in 4th gear.

Is there any flash or ECU upgrade which will say shift from 1st to 2nd at 4-5000 RPM instead of 2000?

You can get a programmer and tune that will allow you to adjust shiftpoints and stuff like that, but typically this is under hard acceleration! When you are just driving/cruising the car kicks into an easy gear to allow for this and keep the rpms down! Depending on the speed you are traveling at then if you were to hammer it, it would go into a lower gear for acceleration in that speed range (also called passing gear by some). I'm not really sure if you can adjust that on the programmer, but i'd almost bet no. But i may be wrong.

like said above just driving normal not under hard acceleration the computer is going to shift to keep rpm's down and save fuel....you could tune your pcm and change theshift point like said above!

Haha, yes this is a good thing. I drive in 5th or 6th almost everywhere. I still get pretty shitty mileage.

I've got a manual, but i normally ride in 4th all through town and I live in a small town with a lot of stop and go. I get a lot better milage shifting between 3000-3500 and getting it in 4th gear soon, not hard acceleration just reving quicker. When on highway 5th gear seems so short i just go straight to 6th and this seems to save a little gas also!

I ahve found keeping the rpms above 3k help with mileage as long as you're not at 9k all the time hahah...between 3k and 3750

i cant remember the last time my car went over 4500rpm. no real need to go over. and if your driving on the street you dont want to be redlined and only going 35.
