Before you go after mods and upgrades find out what autocross class you want to complete in and see what they allow. Typically RX-8s dominate B-stock but there are tight restrictions on what you can replace or modify. Basically you can't replace anything that is not a wear item. Like intake, exhaust, springs etc. But you can replace shocks, pads, tires.
Find out what you'll be allowed to modify before you buy stuff you can't use.
If you don't care I would recommend the KW variant 3 coilovers in the group buy section. Polak has an excellent deal on them and they are basically all you'll need for suspension modification and really the best set up going for this car.

thanks for the info on coilovers...i def think i wanna work on mods that make the car "quicker" as opposed to "faster"...u know what i mean...i think there's def. a difference...shaunv74...thanks for the info regarding the classes...i've been looking into that...so wierd that takin seats out can change the class ur in! but i guess it makes sense...i'm actually gettin really comfortable with gettin the car sideways...one of my uncles' friends owns a business down here with a GREAT parking lot...no light poles in the middle of it or anything...he lets me go out at night and set up some cones...def. a VERY fun car to get sideways...the cops actually came out the other night and tried to give me a ticket...i had to call him to come out and tell them that it was ok for me to be out there! they were pretty cool about it...i was out there tonight and some cops actually came on out to talk to me and watch for a lil bit...pretty neat...its awesome how much quicker you can go around a 180 deg. turn by just gettin the car loose rather than keepin traction...i will def. look into some coil overs...and at this rate a second set of tires! thanks for all the info guys...looks like its gonna be
flywheel
short shifter
coilovers...that outta do me for a lil while! those three i think will make this car MUCH quicker!
