Talking N/A Interceptor X dyno sheet finally posted

Ok.. everyone seems to be skeptical of how great the interceptor is. At peak hp, maybe i gained about 10-12 whp but check out what happend to mid range and how flat and consistant the tq curve is. The hp is also carried straight through 8k+ rpm rather than losing power and dropping. The AFR's are consistant as well!

*last dyno run was in 3rd gear (dave was trying to show me the difference in the 3rd gear pull and 4th. also pointed out 3rd gear runs make it so much harder to tune cuz it ends so fast/less information)

**Dave, i'll try to get on my laptop and post the maps i have to compare with yours.

And as for razz who quoted me on what dave @ kdr told me. dave was just being conservative and didn't wanna promise me crazy power and when i get there, fail. He instead told me a conservative number and instead of getting 187 whp, i got 195. Once again... it's not all about peak hp... it's about how the car can sustain it and think about it this way... how long are you at peak hp? for a sec or 2? whereas as your car is quickly accelerating to peak hp consistantly and powerfully... the car with the peak hp wont neccessarily win the race.. the car with lower peak hp but better tuned can easily walk on a crappy high peak hp car. Hope this helps

Thanks for the dyno, it looks really great, that is the flattest torque curve i've seen from a renesis. It seems the engine cant flow enough past 8000 to make more power, but its good that you have a tune that retains the peak hp for more than 1000rpm. You have a great car =D

well at the time, i was using the 93 octane v power from shell. so he probably tuned it from that octane. now i'm trying the 93 octane from mobil...

i asked dave @ kdr about octane and basically, for n/a unless u beat the crap out of ur car, 87 is more than enough. but i donno why.. i just prefer the higher octane from good sources like mobil and shell's v power.

as for the power, yea it carries out pretty well.. obviously it's not perfectly consistant after 8k rpm but she holds it very nice. raced my same friend in his silver rx8 (has all the same bolt on as me except no interceptor x) and i pull on him way harder now, especially every shift.

car feels great, drives great.

(oh yea, i went through 2 full tanks of gas... i got 284 miles with more than half the tank driving from penn to nj aka highway driving then the rest local. and 2nd take mostly local driving 237 miles... not too shabby~)

hey davefzr, do you have a map strictly for fuel economy? if we were to make one... would it make the car spazz out and make it run like crap?

im getting pretty good mileage and of course speed but i want more mpg~~

a way exsists to set it up for good mpg at a light cruise... under certian paramaters... scott and i talked about it long ago...

might give him a ring or email..

I have my AFR's right at around 14.5 to 14.9 under a cruise in 6 gear situation. It seems that cruising around at 70 mph and driving under very light throttle in lower gears produces the same load on the engine.

Thats where you have to be really careful. I have made the adjustments so that I obtain these AFR's for highway cruising but am staying right under 14.0 for light throttle situations. The way that I accomplished this was all through the use of the LOAD map and RPM_CRS maps...

I wouldnt know any other way to effect highway cruising because the pump functions only kick in after a certain load has been reached and the options for sudden acceleration are only reference when your a certain RPM and load have been obtained (REVstg, MAPstg and %Stage)...

If you do call Scott please post up his response if he tells you another way to effect cruising AFR's without the use of the LOAD or RPM_CRS maps.
