I just bought an injen intake system for my 04, and i plan on getting a hks legamax or an sp2 (i guess its really a matter of what is more affordable), and i'd like to add in higher flow fuel injectors....and i need to know what a good upgrade would be for a N/A setup including fuel pump, im having a hard time trying to find out what kind of injectors the stock ones are so i could put in something thats compatible. idk if they are top feed/bottom feed and i have no idea what their timing is, i asked a mazda dealership near me and they were of absolutely of no help. So im really not sure as to what to do, i need help as to how to go about this, any help would be great! and to be honest with all of you, i could totally be off base, if i could just be pointed in the right direction as to what to do or if you know a webpage or have any info that i couldnt find.

Also if anyone knows where i can get the base maps for the E-manage that would be sweet. Its going in for tuning soon but has the turbo maps uploaded and Id rather start from base then de-tune to stock.

So Back to this.. I picked up a regular E-mange becuase it was just to cheap to pass up. Is it better to go with the ultimate becuase of the range of tuning or is there something else I don't know? I would like to use it since I purchased it.
Also if anyone knows where i can get the base maps for the E-manage that would be sweet. Its going in for tuning soon but has the turbo maps uploaded and Id rather start from base then de-tune to stock.

Get the RB flash or an AccessPort and be done with it.

No can do on the RB flash makes no sense.. Id rather have a piggy back unit I can remove for those pesky warranty repairs.
Essentially the access port has the same tunability(I make up words) its just a hell of a lot easier to tune correct?
Also I don't mind paying my tuner $125 an hour so he can Dial in perfection. I spent $100 on the unit harness and software sooo yea I'm good on cost benefit ratio..
I'm just wondering how feasible it is... If the unit can do whatever the access port can than who cares.

Otherwise you should be ok to make small adjustments; but you need to learn a lot about tuning.
I wouldn't worry about a basemap; the stock tune will get you to the dyno. By definition a Basemap is just to get the car running safely.

The E-manage tries to modify the signals sent to the injectors from the PCM. All this does is cause your car to run like you want for a couple of drive cycles at which time the PCM's long term fuel trims will take over and you'll be right back where you started.
If you manage to wire the unit up so you're controlling the injectors entirely yourself (not even sure if this is possible the the E-Manage Blue), then technically you could dial in any tune you wanted, but that tune would be specific to the conditions at the time of tuning. No compensation for altitude, temperature, etc.
Seriously, it's trash. Get rid of it while you can. The extra money spent on the access port is worth it.

Cannot do fan temps or OMP with a piggyback like this. Those are two big reliability mods we can all use.
Otherwise you should be ok to make small adjustments; but you need to learn a lot about tuning.

I have a tuner I'm getting a hold of.. hes amazing at tuning with rotary's its pretty much all he does. tuned my buddy's fc after a T II swap.
Basically getting it tuned is not the problem however this other post above from rotary enthusiast confuses me.. So basically your saying if you program the e-manage and hook it up via harness the PCM will literally somehow override the signal and bypass it? I'm confused...

Do a lot of searching and reading. Listen to the people that have been here for a few years. They were around when the e-manage blue was all we had for tuning and the best tuners unlocked its secrets and discovered its flaws. The ECU is too smart for a piggyback fuel controller. It will adjust its long term fuel trim to compensate for any changes you make, rendering your tune useless. You can reset the fuel trims and hope to get back to where you started, but you'll be chasing your tail.
You don't want the RB flash for warranty reasons? You do know that the dealer can't tell your ECU's been flashed right?

Last week the dealer decided to do a re-flash without telling me it was in there for some recall work.. so yea if they did that and I had the RB flash bye bye $350. that's why I don't want to risk it.
Well I guess its back to saving for the access port again, *****!

hi, i still want to stay n/a with my eight.
My research on that topic told me, that a the original airbox with an k&n drop in, removed walls and 1 maf screen is the best you can do at intake side.
the OEM airbox is very well designed, except from a few others ( Mazdaspeed, Racing Beat) you won't get any improvment in horsepower, only so called 'sound'
At the exhaust side, i'll recommend a high-flow cat or a racepipe (if emissions aren't interesting for you). A good exhaust will support that too. Header is optional in my opinion. They work best with turbo applications then on a n/a ... with turbo, the gain at horsepower is much better.
The aim is, to increase the airflow in the whole system.
At engine itself, a coil upgrade is recommended. As you like, you can also spend a ground wire kit. Additionally, the cobb accessPort is the best ecu mod you can do. If it doesn't lift horsepower much, it will lift your mpg ratio.
The order of the mods i'll do it in that way :
1.) airbox mod (its free ^^ )
2.) drop in filter (around 60-70 bucks)
3.) high-flow-cat or midpipe (300-500 bucks, depends on brand)
4.) cat-back exhaust (400-800)
5.) coil upgrade (around 400 bucks)
6.) access port (around 600 bucks)
7.) exhaust header (400-1500 or open end ^^ )
the prices is just a very rough guideline. better to calculate with 100-200 bucks more (finally) because of some installation and tuning work.
But with that, i think you'll get a well going car at the end ^^.
PS : I've done Point 1,2,4 at my rx-8 already. my next mod will be the coil upgrade. After that, i'm thinking of the cobb or a high flow cat ..

Longevity wasn't their main priority when developing these since they are a race team, however seeing that they got such a big response from this product they are developing it even further to see if it can actually pass the test of time. Like I said, only time will tell.

sorry, u may have covered this in a previous post but why wouldnt adding higher cc injectors help? with an intake shouldnt there be more airflow into the engine chamber so that you can add more fuel into the mix to get more power? thats what i've always thought, so im just curious, any explanation would be great
