I would like to point out that it is the speed out of the turn, not the power out of the turn that is the great winner. The speed out of the turn has little to do with the power and everything to do with the driver.
This is the reason why i find track racing more demanding than drag racing. As an example: Give me a 13 second car and a pro drag racer a 16 second car and I will win the race. I will probably land on 15 seconds but it will still beat the 16 second car since it cannot go faster.
Take the same two cars and place them on a racetrack. Me in the 13 second car and an F1 driver in the 16 second car. I would be lucky if I can keep up for one lap. The difference being that the driver skill is much more obvious on a track than in a straight line. There is also much more room to improve on a track because the millions of lines you can take with various theories behind them to drive fast depending on the situation. In a drag race it is once more just a straight line.

and about the lap times, i fully undestand ur example about the drivers, but u also have to consider the actual layout of the track....a wide open 3 mile track is quite different from a 1.2mile technical course...on the bigger track MR.F1's driving skill wont really matter as much in a slow car and u would probably win either way
basically its like an exige and a 575 maranello...yes the exige may win on some tracks becuase of the many things u mentioned, but the 575, because of the things related to drag raceing(tire and HP), will win most of the time..
Small example miata vs viper

The Professor
A high hp car that is worse at handling may try and brake late, may try and choose the best line, but if that smaller better handling car can take that turn at 10mph more he can just walk around the inside, or even the outside while the faster worse handling car is the one who has to stay perfectly on the most perfect line to keep from going off the track.

I know! I know! Here's what you can do and it will work.
A how-to has already been written for someone like the OP.
No turbo, no supercharger in the 13s? No problem!
Make it faster (almost free)

A really good driver would let off the pace to give the sucky driver a slight headstart into the corner. Then he would attack fully to be able to use the line for optimal speed out of the corner without interference. Timed correctly the good driver would then be almost bumper to bumper with the car in front but driving much faster. Once there steal the inner line for the next turn, and if it is a short distance between the two turns the high HP car cannot compensate in time.
And passed :-)

I agree with you on most points. I just want to nitpick one thing:

Anyways all i mean is that an RX8 that runs 13's is faster not only on a drag strip but on a track as well....so one shouldnt blatantly hate on dragging it if that really equates to better lap times if that person chooses to take it to a track

as for running 13's, it's an easy fix. Just pick up a used Int-X and redo some of the fuel maps on the Flux Capacitor. I'm pretty sure TeamRX8 can help you with that.

someoneveryclosetomebutnotmeatall can do 14.4 with 245/40/18 toyo proxes t1Rs. a timeslip was posted, check the racing section or search for it.
i dont know what you guys are talking about. .5 seconds is not that difficult to attain when you are hanging out in the stock 14s.
i bet this car can hit 13s n/a. and eventually someoneveryclosetomebutnotmeatall will post the timeslip to prove it.
