fanman, what you say about the low end is true.... but short of piggyback fuel/ignition controllers, you can throw every imaginable N/A bolt on at this motor and not see more than 20-25 horses gained even in the upper end of the power band, and thats if you're lucky
so its not that there is nothing to be gained.... but 20-25 ponies for hundreds to thousands of dollars invested.... dunno bout you but i call that negligible

I think this notion will soon change. Mazsport has dyno's up showing 20 rwhp with their Ignition upgrade and Int-x alone. you can't tell me that intake and header-back catless with pulleys will only add up to 5 hp. I think sometime in 08 we'll see a bolt on NA 220 rwhp RX*8. Thats like 40whp or roughly 50 at the flywheel for $5kish.

It's the notion that the air intake is neglible vs. say something like cat delete pipe that is wrong.
Air intakes, hi-flow cats, cat back exhausts, pullies, ecu re-tune, etc all just amplify the NA engine's character...that there is little low end power, with the engine coming alive in the upper rev range.
