make sure you keep that rear and exhaust...and don't sell it to anyone on the forum. You're car was so unique...would hate to see it be "just another 8"

oh, I know it is for sale...I already manned up and finished the MS kit with the real deal. Had the replica rear for awhile, but was never happy with it. Now the car feels complete. Would love that entire kit, but I'm afraid it would get truely beat up on my daily drive. Having just the rear would look odd.

Too bad it's on the left hand. I understand why, though. Since they are a JDM company they manufacture items for RH drive cars, thus the single exit will be on the left side. But that makes all LH drive cars suffer slightly. Would provide better weight balance if it were on the other side.

Any chance that simply flipping the exhaust would actually line up properly and look normal on the other side? I'd doubt it but that'd be neat.

Better weight distribution.

Driver sits on left side, having the exhaust exit on the right side would provide for slightly better balance. Reason it exits on the left side is because the company is in a market with RHD cars. See it all the time with companies like that, it's too bad sometimes really.

Negative...after testing both it was proven that it flowed better on the left side. But as far as this exhaust goes, most of the initial design was done here in the good ol US.

Do you have any data on this? I don't see how being on the right or left side would cause a noticeable difference in flow, but I suppose it's possible. The bends would not be that different from the looks of it.

hoenstly, i wish i could explain it, but it has already been thought off, its true that it does make more sense to have it on the right side as far as weight distribution goes, but numbers dont lie, per hks it flowed better on that side..

If the exhaust was run on the right side, the bends would be sharper. Therefore, creating more restriction. The exhaust engineer who designed this exhaust has been making HKS exhausts for 19 years!

I wasn't necessarily doubting it, was just curious to see the data if there was any.

There was no recorded data comparing both sides, just a theory based off of years of experience. In order to properly clear the differential and right rear suspension, the exhaust piping must angle towards the left side of the car. If the muffler was to sit on the right side, it would require a sharper 90 degree bend.
