New intake for noobs :P

Heey guys..

im really having thoughts on getting the AEM intake on my HP rx8 ..

i looked through the forum here but it still leaves me with some questions.

can i buy a kit or something? im figuring that i need more than just the intake?

is it easy to install for a guy who only knows little about rotary engines like me?

is there any computer stuff i need to get changed after ? or is it just mount it, start it, and go?? :P !

what are the plus and minus' for putting this on?

i know these questions might be stupid but i hope you will help me to understand more about it

Thanks up front

Click the below link and research as this intake has been talked about enough.

My .02 is if you are going to spend money on an Intake the AEM is the best!

^yeah for all you off roaders out there! haha....but seriously with a CAI where the filter siting in the fender of out of the engine bay there is always a better chance of water injection!

imho the Racing Beat Intake with Duct is a better solution.

1. much less chance of water ingestion
2. much easier to get to the filter for cleaning/oiling
3. quieter intake than the Mazdaspeed/AEM with similar or better performance
4. with the duct it's still considered a CAI, since the air is ducted directly from the front grille

Personally I went with the RB duct mated to my stock intake which contains an K&N flat fliter.

I have the Racing Beat intake with duct and have ZERO regrets on it. (for all the reasons mentioned by Huey)
It's not a very difficult install and only basic hand tools are required.

I can only speak for the AEM (since thats what I have) and all I can say are good things. I have never sucked up anything and I live in CO. It snows in the winter and rains every afternoon in the summer.

Even the touchless washes have had no effect on my intake (it gets washed by th dealer after every oil change).

If you have the money (RB intake plus duct is expensive) and want the piece of mind then go with the RB. Personnally I love the AEM!
