New K&N air filter guarantees 9.5hp increase...

So I guess they looked at the comments of members who have purchased their Typhoon kit and wasn't impressed with idling issues, nor the power it frees up...if any, and did something about it. Now they "Guarantee" that is WILL free up an adequate amount. Any of you guy are willing to fall for it? Info here.

Yeah, they had dynos on the original typhoon units that showed an 8-9 hp increase too. Then several posters on this board dyno and actually lost hp. I rarely believe dynos on vendor websites anymore. I choose to see how the posters on this board do as they are not trying to sell product.

You'd think they could do a 'before and after' dyno that wasn't 3 days apart.

I say if they're willing to guarantee it, they should go to RX Tuner, or another comparable magazine and prove it. Same car, same day, same dyno, etc...

It kind of begs the question...Why would they make a product that didn't perform to expectations? only for the sake of being the first?

Pretty much. They wanted to be the first to market, scoop a bunch of sales & hope people wouldn't dyno or tell about it too much. They thought that porting through a design from another car would work, but it didn't.

It may have made 9.5hp on a car with HUGE ports/aftermarket work...If I owned this site, and K&N was paying ME to advertise, I'd ask them to send me a product for independant, controlled-environment - back to back dyno tests

There are no details there about the car, other than it had the stock intake for the first run THREE DAYS earlier

So who sells it and for how much? One should watch for the part number to distiguish from the old one, I guess....

I just e-mailed them and asked if there was a written guarantee to thier claim and if the intake did not produce if it was returnable. Just thought it was a fair question if they "guarantee" it. I'll let you know if they respond.

How do you even know it is the same RX-8 in both dyno runs? It probably is but still, how do we know?

Yep I don't see a guarantee either. It only mentions that there is an "estimated" 9.5 hp increase.

Read on the dyno near the #'s on one it says 87.7 degrees farenheit, on the other it says 98.4 degrees.
