Everyone who believed Mazda when they claimed that a whole lotta time went into designing the RX8 intake needs to see now that was all bs. If they are stupid enough to risk their rep on putting out a Mazdaspeed aftermarket item that actually decreased power then I won't buy another Mazda.

So far, I haven't seen a single mazdaspeed part that wasn't just a relabeled product from another company. (At least for the 6)
On the 6...
The short throw shifter was made by B&M.
The catback was made by bosal.
The springs were made by ebiach.
The coilovers are from a japanese company (forget which one right now).
The sways are autoexec/cusco.
The flywheel is an exeedy
Etc, etc.
Basically mazda lets another company R+D or produce a product, then they take that product, etch a mazdaspeed logo, remove the warranty, and then jack the price up about 200-300%.
If you read the fine print, most of the mazdaspeed parts everyone wants come with no warranty whatsoever. No warranty on the product, and no warranty on the car. The only stuff that actually has a warranty are the little flare items like license plates. The medium level products (like a catback) usually carry no vehicle warranty (same as all aftermarket parts), and a 12,000 mile warranty on craftsmanship.
Also mazda doesn't test these products, other then for fitment. (Thus why there isn't any warranty on some of them). This showed up when a bunch of dealerships shipped out ms springs to wagon owners, who then found it they didn't work. Mazda had only test fitted them on the sedan/hatch... =/.
I'm sure the intake for the 8 is probably just another companies design with a ms logo on it.

uhmm....actually if you read the fine print most of the stuff comes with at least a 12 month/12000 mile warranty if installed by a Mazdaspeed dealer.
Actually. Pretty much all of the stuff for the 8 has a warranty on it (if installed by a mazdaspeed dealer) for the 12 month/12000 mile or orginal warranty whichever is longer.
"MAZDASPEED "Blue" Performance Accessories must be installed by a MAZDASPEED Dealer on a US specification vehicle and be specifically approved by Mazda for the particular application. These parts are covered under the Mazda Replacement Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty and are warranted for the first 12 months/12,000 miles from the date of installation or the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever is longer. Should the parts be purchased but not installed by a MAZDASPEED Dealer, they will be covered for the first 12-months/12,000 miles from the date of purchase, excluding labor charges. Parts or accessories replaced/installed under warranty, are covered for the time remaining in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty."
MS exhaust, shocks, springs, stabalizer bars, and front strut, and rims for the RX-8 have that
The MS flywheel comes with the "Green" which is just the 12000/12 month warranty blah blah mazdaspeed dealer.
The MS flywheel and brake pads carry that one.

That's the old filter, they introduced a new oil-less DryFlow filter for 2006, and you can get them up to 4" tube size. I'm running a 3.5" one on my custom CAI. My understanding is the AEM Mazda Rx-8 CAI is 3.5", not sure why someone posted it was only 3" several posts earlier

Just joking...
And bypass isn't needed, unless you plan on driving under 2-3 feet of water.
