Everyone who enjoys there '8's' performance lives or can find places to hit the higer gears. I believe what is needed for everyone is a winding hill or mountian to show case what thier '8' can do.

It also helps we have a road tracks every which way you look.

I think the point that Buck is trying to make is that bang for the buck the 8 is nothing to write home about.I am right there with ya kid in thinking the same thing. All everyone here wants to talk about is the "twisties"or "hit the curves with it".I say one thing look at slaloms times for the 8 350z sti and evo.You get onto a track with an evo and goodnight.Hell a 2003 srt-4 runs 70 mph slaloms.

Yeah, but the 8 is way more sophisticated and smooth, and has a much nicer interior, than an Evo or STi. And the 350Z has only two seats. You have to pick your compromise. For under $30k you can't have it all. If you want a car that has everything, like the M3 or M5, you have to spend a lot more, and even then it's a much heavier car, and much more expensive to own.
I knew going in that I was not getting something as quick as the Evo, but I couldn't stand the interior of the Evo, and I didn't want to make long road trips in it.
I say again, for this price, you can't have it all. But the 8 gives you a great deal for your dollar. Compared to cars even a decade ago, like the first NSX or a 993 Carrera, it's a supercar. I'm lucky to have one.

Aren't you worried about ruining your clutch or diff? I know that some cars (like Mustangs) are made for this kind of treatment, but I hear the RX-8 has a lot of wheel hop, which I hear kills diffs. (I'd be delighted to learn I'm wrong, but until then I'll hold off, I think.)

Ever sinced I lowered my 8 with tein S tech, I dont have wheel hop anymore.
I just love the 4 seats period. I've always wanted a sports car that I can bring at least 3 people.

I hope you know by admitting that your accelerate quickly on a public road that you will be banished to hell by all the seniors in this forum for kill racing. and to I hope you where swerving side to side the whole time you did this. That is what the car is made for. also like you said where are all the "twisties" that everyone is talking about? There arent many in texas. at least where I live(Im sure some liberal texan will go crazy telling me where all of them are). Oh well though I guess.
point being to all this, if you have ANYTHING at all helpful pertaining to someones question let them know. For the rest of you just shut the *&^% up. I have seen at least 20 threads asking about makeing the car faster get filled with all this crap from people like robert the dot and a ton of others who think its neat to retype or reword what the last guy said, saying that it shouldnt be done. If thats how you feel great. start a thread about how great the car handles and dont even enter the damn threads asking about performance enhancements. We have ALL heard it(read it) a thousand times. enough.
and yes im done ranting I dont need to hear about it from the almighty *Robert the Dot*

Amen Bam Bam.I love when everyone that post there remarks like"car wasnt built for that"or "this is not a drag car"because they know its slow in comparsion to the comp.I like the car,i own one but lets be honest it is underpowered for the money.

Since someone apparently didn't read what I said before hitting reply, most of what is in this post is in my previous post. Maybe it will be read fully and I have put it in clear enough terms for overly emotional people to understand.
Arguing on the Internet is like being in the special olympics. Even if you win, you are still retarded.
1) Pretty similar. You've got two applications, and the '8 was designed for one and not the other. I NEVER said you couldn't make it do something else. In fact, I suggested it could. If you want, I'm sure the '8 could even be modded for off road apps. If you want to slap a turbo and nos and big pipes and whatever, it WILL be faster on the 1/4 mile. The '8 CAN be made into a drag car, but my '8 right now with no engine mods will suck as a drag car but do okay as a AutoCross car. Everyone has said it and it seems pretty damn apparent, so why are you arguing? If something sucks at something, it probably wasn't designed for it. I'm not saying that can't be changed. Shall I repeat that again? I'm not or never said that the '8 cannot be made into a drag car. If they can make a civic into a drag car, they can certainly make an '8 into a drag car.
2) I believe the original question was
Which upon re-reading, I'm not sure what the hell he actually meant, but I read that as "I want basic mods, and don't want to turbo/super/nos it." If that wasn't what was meant, then sorry. Somehow, your suggestions may mean something. But ultimately, your first post in this thread was to argue against the people who said the '8 isn't a drag car.
Otherwise, take your own advice. The only thing you've done here is argue about the '8s current power capabilities vs. cars with turbos, which hasn't been helpful, as far as I can tell, to how to make the '8 faster without a turbo/super/nos. I was simply saying in my first post on this thread that putting an exhaust and intake on the car will not do as much as it traditionally does on other cars, and will not make it a drag car. You will need forced induction and/or nos to make the car a decent competitor on the 1/4 mile. If that isn't helpful to the original question, then the question has no helpful answers.
Don't confuse me with other "anti-drag racing zelots" and people who think you shouldn't modify a car to do a particular application. Read my posts calmly before you start bitching and freaking out and maybe you would better understand what I was saying.

Ok, I said enough. what can be done.?Basic Mods? I didn't but a non turbo or supercharge to put one it. Just the ones that have been proven to produce. We all have a rx-8, what do you like about the car? what do you say to the critics? What can be improved.

christ-sakes.... theres a reason why we bought what we got right now....you can never really have "everything" and theres always something to be picked on for EVERY car.
Just leave it alone.

Definitely agree with Robertdot. I'm a newbie - 2 days with the 8. So it doesn't have the quickest response off the line - but hit those corners and tight "s" curves and feel how you hug the ground. Anyone can fire off the line. But it is he/she who can maneuver through the turns that truly impresses. I had my friend in the car the first night - he has a Cobra. I watched him grab the dash when I approached the first curve. He thought I was insane until I hugged a few more. I had him hooked. It's all what you want. I'll stick with the 8 myself.

Did you test drive the car before signing on the dotted line? If you did, then you knew what the 8 was about. If you didn't do a road test, then you goofed. Either way, you're up the creek. Now stop complaining, suck it up, or dump the car. Geez.
