it looks like it would be for the Rx8 ... for a little more than $500.00. wonder if it'll make it over here any time soon. it's got an odd shape to it though..think it's compatible with most intakes out there?

It does appear they are selling this for the RX-8. I'm very interested in the performance gain for NA RX-8s with a modified throttle body. I've read about the new NA 350Z's dual throttle body and was just wondering what something like this would do for the NA RX-8.

Ya, Scott if you could elaborate that'd be fine and dandy...

From my understanding the only difference we could expect from a mechanical TB compared too our electrical one is a quicker response?

Does their exist any actual hp gains from changing our TB from a big circle too three small ones?

the stock TB flows enouph cfm for an NA motor. i doubt there would really be any hp increases. but, on the flipside, i know that formula mazda uses a different TB. im not sure why though.

Smoother response with a cabled TB...when tracking it gives you more control over the car...you notice the lag and sensitivity issues w/ an electronic version.

as clear as mud, if you have access to the e-throttle software and control you can program in whatever response you want ...

That I did NOT know...I figured it would just be easier to cable the thing...you wouldnt happen to know where one could find said software?

While we are talking about it...anyone have any insightful comments on a cabled vs. e-throttle debate? Is e-throttle going to ultimately be better? If so why?

Pfft...of course dont you know in the end he with the most toys / biggest shlong wins?

I personally dont need the TB...but your comment on the e-throttle was interesting as its something I have never really thought about. Specifically in regards to making adjustments. I mean most of the "hardcore" setups I have seen on other cars which see track duty only usually go with a cabled setup. So I wonder if thats partially because its a carryover from the old school or if e-throttles have some shortcoming. I dont really have an opinion about it yet, but now you got me thinking you baggy bastage. Its too early to start thinking damnit...

LOL - I was just wanting to know why this is being offered? It did spark a debate I see, which is fine. That's what this forum is for, and we all know we cannot resist posting our comments.

I would like to hear more from Scott on his alternate throttle body...

I was thinking that an improved throttle body could only do so much...

1. Get more AIR.

But, is our present throttle body giving us all the air we can handle on NA already?
Or is it?

2. Be more responsive.

How and why can we improve on responsiveness?

aren't the old rx-7 throttles set with primary and secondary butterflies? that may possibly increase low end power.

The RX-8 throttlebody does electronically what the RX-7 throttlebodies needed 3 plates to even get closed to doing since the primary plate on the RX-7 tb opens 20% of the way before the secondaries kick in. The RX-8 has a 75mm throttlebody. There is NO more power to be had from going larger! You can't flow nearly enough. The intake on the Renesis is actually quite nice. I see no point in trying to replace it with anything else whereas on a 13B I do see a benefit in a new throttledoby and intake manifold. Get rid of the new throttlebody idea. You will never need one and if you think you will, you're wrong!

I've got an adaptor plate and 4.6l Mustang throttle body for a mechanical conversion if anyone is interested. The 4.6l throttle is a *slightly* smaller diameter than the stock RX8.

Removing the stock throttle body will affect DSC, TC, and cruise control. You'll also need a stand alone ECU, like the extra TEC3r with RX8 harnesses like the one I have lying around.
