No.

I work for a company that sells a product that goes in airplanes. The firmware in this product can be updated by the user in the field with a laptop. The customer knows this is the expected way to update it when they buy it.

Sometimes a customer doesn't want to do it themselves, they want to mail it to us. We'll take care of them. This is even more extreme than RB- the customer can update but doesn't want to, and we don't charge at all. In RB's case, you have to use them to update, and they charge you.

It's totally up to RB on how they want to price their product, and each customer needs to decide if the pricing makes sense to them. As someone that does a lot of marketing and pricing work, this pricing structure doesn't make sense to me, but I do hope RB is successful with it.

Beat ya! 197 w/ Intake and Catback.

:D

So - are we saying the dyno RB posted was a FLYWHEEL HP graph? Perhaps I missed that - because I was going to comment on how unusually STRONG their test car happened to be.

Make sure your car has the latest flash from Mazda before you send it over to Racing Beat.

I had my car at the local Mazda dealership last week and wanted to get the latest flash - According to Scott - should be compatable with the Interceptor. Mazda did not want to flash the ECU because of the Interceptor - They said it may short out - So I figured after they said that I did not want to take a chance.

The power the flash offers is nice, but some of the other features like triggering the fans sooner and such are worthwhile on their own. Maybe I'll do this during the winter.

This makes no difference. RB is replacing all of the code in the ECU, so you end up with whatever flash level they have. You could have the very original flash in your ECU and when you're done RB will have put their version on it.

I'm hoping that they have the latest flash (is that "S"?) so that if you took it to a dealer a week later they'd have no reason to try and update it because it would be the latest.

So? Does RB even HAVE a Chassis dyno???

just kidding, Charlie.

Has anyone called/emailed RB to ask them if their tune retains the oil-meters specs found in the new Flash?

Zoom thanks for that clarification.
Yes we do have a member with the usual bolt ons---no ecu tuning--no piggy back-- that has consistantly dyno-ed 204(at the rear wheels). Most have dynoed mid 180's to close to 200.
If that is a true gain from the cars baseline---we have a winner! Dont forget the other features also.

That doesn't mean they've used Mazda's suggested Oil Metering Specs.

I gave Racing Beat a call. They suggest that you have the latest flash before you send it to them.

That would lead me to believe that they just alter your current flash on your ECU, but that would seem too time consuming. I would think they would have the latest flash and update it with their code and then just flash everyone with that one file, but could be wrong.

If I remember what I read correctly, they just go in and change the fuel tables and a couple of other things. They don't completely reflash the ecu.
I got a free oil change coupon from the dealer and had them change the oil last week. They didn't reflash with the latest update.
