what are some mod can i do to keep up with a 350z in speed beside a turbo?

i usually don't mine about power, but the other day, i try to keep up with my friend's 350, and i got beat very bad, is that normal from a rx8 or some things is wrong with my driving or the car?

from a stop launching would be the issue ...i always get on this 350 every sunday morning on the way to church and im always at least 1 car length ahead

it wasn't a stop lunching, i start off at 1st gear at around 5000 rpm

just race him in a LONG straigh road. He will get ahead of you but at about 125 mph you will start to catch up with him
