As mentioned above, the tips are 3.5", which IMO is a perfect size. They angle down from the top. just slightly. In other words, the top part of the tip is a little longer than the bottom. There are some good pics of the exhaust on the DIY forum now. I meant to take "before" pics to compare with the new system, but unfortunately I was rushing to get it done before it got too dark and didn't get a chance. I will take some nice shots this weekend though and I'll post them. There have been a couple others already posted, but not on a Titanium Gray.

OK, after searching around...I grow tired so can you please tell me:

Does Mazda claim any HP increase with these? I know I know...little to nothing, but since they state it's freeER flowing I thought they might claim a HP or two.

I hear it's lighter than the stock ones...but how much lighter? I heard half...is that about right?

Finally, I'm surprised these cost less than $500 (especially because they are MS) but they look really good and if they cut weight and give me a HP or two, this is the exhuast for me.

The Mazdaspeed logo on the tips really looks nice also. Please share video or sound (while not ideal...it would be nice) if possible and thanks for posting. I looked around the site and read up on it a bit but sometimes threads bring up more questions than answers.

I saw there was a sound clip some place but the website did not work for me.

Thanks for posting...looks good.

I have seen no official claims by Mazda about performance increase. Honestly, I'm not too concerned with it because I know this won't be the mod that will make a big difference, anyway. I would like to hear something from Mazda, however.

As for weight, when the product was first announced, one Mazda vendor told us it would be 7-8lbs lighter than stock. When it finally shipped, it weighed 39lbs, according to the Mazda guy who sold me mine. However, MazdaManiac says on his DIY that it weighs almost half that of the stock unit. I didn't actually weigh mine, so I'm not entirely sure. The MS system did seem lighter when I lifted it, but that's hardly an accurate statement.

I'm planned on taking pics and possibly posting a sound clip if there's interest. Some say that sound clips are useless, and they may be correct (too many factors with the mic, computer speakers, etc), but it gives an idea. Overall, I'm happy with it so far, but I haven't driven very much with it yet. The Mazdapeed-etched tips are some of the best I've seen from the list of aftermarket systems.

Hope that answers some of your questions!

Like every other exhaust there isn't really much to be had. I would expect +/-3hp if that. It's not that much lighter than stock, but even though it was 10 pounds lighter you can't really feel it. So I would just go with sound in your decision on this one.

The soundclip is on the onlinemazdaparts.com thread in the vendor section under group buy... For the price I think the exhaust is the best bang for the buck.

Maybe I mis-read but how did MM get the new exhaust to weigh that much lighter than the oem one?

Thanks guys...I know it's more for sound and looks, than HP...but I know there are lighter aftermarket ones out there (significantly lighter) so that's a big selling point for me.

Sound quality, looks, and weight savings...the MS exhaust seems to have almost all of that less the weight savings. 10 pounds saved aint to shabby though...

as much as i LOVE the look and the sound of the MS exhaust that's posted, i think i'll just stick with the stock oil drum of a muffler for now... that's $500 that will stay in my pocket, plus i think i'm getting old, because i actually prefer the quietness of the stock muffler, lol

No shame in that at all! I'm 30 and at this point in my life I definitely don't want a loud car. I do, however, like to stand out from the crowd. It was a tough decision for me to even order another aftermarket exhaust.

I wasn't able to find that sound clip under group buys. Would you be able to supply a direct link. Thanks.
