Pick one, Mishimoto Carbon Fiber CAI or K&N Typhoon V2

Evening Gentlemen,

Currently I am running the K&N V2, I got a Mishimoto Carbon fiber for pretty much free bundled in with a Greddy strut tower bar from a local guy who was dumb enough to take a beautiful 8 out of this world by totaling his Strt Rcing and was selling off what parts he was able to salvage before it was taken away. But I digress, I want to try the Mishimoto out(guess I will be capping off some vacuum lines) and was curious about the community opinion as to the better of the two (yes I am also aware they are both inferior to the stock intake but I bought the car with the K&N on it)

TL:DR Which is the better of the two, Mishimoto carbon fiber or K&N Typhoon V2

Much appreciation for your input as usual
TLP

Don't know much about the moshimoto but I do know the typhoon is a hot air intake..lol..i think anything other then the typhoon will be a better choice. The typhoon came with my car as well and although my car hasent exploded or anything. I am desperately trying to get rid of it. Anything that is not shielded or doesn't run the filter out of the engine bay to get actual cold air is just not a good choice.

Agreed, the typhoon with its placement and shape makes it clear it sucks nothing but terribly hot air. the Mishimoto placement seems higher and shorter hopefully it would have more access to cool air through the vents in my hood

Let me help you out... find an OEM intake. I'm not BSing you. It is superior to either of the intakes you are considering. PS, you'll probably get flamed and told to search for the answers to easy questions like this in the future... Keep that in mind.

I appreciate the input, and as stated before I dont disagree the stock is the way to go but currently this is what I have and so just trying to make the best of the current situation. I always search first, did my best but wasnt able to find a thread comparing the two. Thank you again though, many around here would not have been so polite in their delivery

Change it to the Mishimoto intake. Then sell your K&N and buy the Racing Beat REVi duct.

Thank you gentleman,I installed it yesterday and while the quite inaccurate butt dyno tells me I've got more pull, the actual tangible difference's are definitely there the tone on the car is less harsh (exhaust manifold, straight piped, Greedy exhaust so you can imagine the scream) and it has also lowered the "warmed up" Temp to a little under half where as with the k&n it maintained a little above half, though that might be the change of the MAF (which certainly also had the Benifit of eliminating high RPM misfires that have been kicking my ***)

Thank you again for your inputs and opinions

Yeah, get a stock or proper intake. It's going to be hard to diagnose that misfire with a known problem point sitting there.

I keep scouring the junk yards, feel bad almost hoping people are totaling them, stock intake, ESS for testing purposes (im getting an intermittent ESS code even after cleaning), undertray, you know, kinda putting the car back together that the previous owner tore apart

Make sure to check the FS section here, especially the people parting out cars. I have seen a few OEM intakes available within the last few weeks.
