Power FC for the 8?

I was wondering if anyone knew if Apexi, will ever make a Power FC for the Rx-8? I have one in my 3rd gen Rx-7, and love the control it gives. I've checked out the apexi web page, but I could'nt find any info. Has anyone heard of any rumors in Japan about this? CJ

No rumors yet that I know of. Im not sure they will, but I think they are thinking about it.

They are know for getting too excited about N/A vehicles, so you know..... Since the trust turbo kit is coming out, the others will follow, so I think in DUE time it will be released.

I'd be very surprised if they do one. Everything on the car is controlled by the ECU and it talks to the other modules too (ABS, EPS, etc.). Very difficult to do all that. Piggyback ECUs are much easier on this car.

Canzoomer was, at one time, talking about developing a multi-map setup using an Apexi (or similar) controller. I believe he was talking about doing one after he gets his stage II mod out the door (most likely sometime in Jan-Feb '04) and that his multi-map setup would include the same settings as Stage I, Stage II, and an "Economy" map.

I talked to Rob@Pineapple Racing last night about programable fuel controlers....He should have one on the market by the end of Janurary. Target price is $1300. I'm very interested in a programable setup thats plug and play. No cutting or hacking.... CJ

That's great that Rob's making one! Motec should have one out soon as well. Though, it might be for the StarMazda series and not for the RX-8. Besides, I'm not sure if it's compatible with existing sensors.

Has anyone tried hooking up an Apexi Super AFC to control the fuel?

I contemplated the S-AFC before I bought the E-Manage.
I don't see why it wouldn't work, but for the same $350 or so you can have the much more capable E-Manage doing the same thing and more.

No codes thrown by running the E-Manage?

I was actually contemplating getting one of those for my Civic before I picked up the AEM EMS due to more technical supporting from local dealers.

I might end up getting the E-Manage after all then...

Runs like a charm. Instant power gains. Seriously.

Check out the two threads I have open on the thing:

Thats all I want, an rx8 where its a/c doesn't work. I have a pfc on my 94 rx7 and while its great, my AC only works on position 1 due to the voltage drops. I would rather have a piggy back.

Yeah, my P-fc thing is kinda a pain. But my cars AC works on 1,2 and 4. Sucks you only have one level. I'd still like to the see the P-fc for the US market though. CJ

Greddy in Japan does make "easy connect" harness adapters for some cars. Hopefully they'll do an RX-8 appliation.

Basically, it's a harness that goes between the stock ECU and the wiring harness, and the E-manage harness is tapped into that. Total plug and play, no modification of the stock harness at all.

its not about wearing out. I can plug my stock ecu in and the ac works on all settings. with the power FC my ac worked on all settings except 3, then after about 9 months it stopped working on all except position 1 which obviously is not enough to cool the car down.

there is no easy fix. the "easy fix" you refer to is to get a new engine harness which is over $1000 and doesn't always work. the other is to bypass the ECU which causes a host of problems. I tried to bypass the ECU and it still didn't work, although I have a 94 and the instructions were for a 93.

Again, i have searched and searched. its a PIA.
