Only things you'll notice are a Canzoomer Chip (20-40hp, about 1000$ depending on what stages you get) or any forced induction (30-60hp+, 3000-7000+). Otherwise there's exhaust, intake, midpipe, cat-converter, etc. for minimum gains.

Canzoomer hasnt been proven to do anything, anyone that has dyno'ed it can show you that. It's hit and miss with all the rx-8's.

some people (not myself) might disagree with you.

There are several dynos on this board that prove otherwise. In it's out of the box form, yes it ranges from nothing to a little (5-10 whp), but if you tune it to your car gains have been from 16 to 22 whp. Not bad for the $. But the big thing is to tune it. Some of the claims of 40 hp are a little optimistic simply because base RX8's are all over the place. Baseline dynos go from 160 whp to 200 whp. The unit might help one car that is running pig rich (& you can lean it out) vs. one that is running optimally.

2-3 whp. Wait for the Racing Beat unit coming out or get the HKS unit if you have the $. Those two are the best. Qon't get much more hp than that as the current unit, despite what some of their press is saying are short arm intakes (inside the engine bay). Until someone makes a unit that stretches down through the fender, or re-routes the current VFAD not much more hp will be gained.

what about the k & n ram intake that gives you 9.5 to the wheels or was it the aem short ram intake, w.e it was it was a ram intake and it said it will give 9.5 to the wheels

K&N is 'lying'.

Total & utter nonsense. There have been several posters here who have dynoed those units on their cars & found no hp gain, & in some cases hp loss ! Pretty much there are many posters here that have dynoed all the units and found very little hp gain. You should never trust vendor claims if their #'s are far bigger than reasonable. Look for the dynos done by the posters on the board as they have no vested financial interest in that product. Racing Beat has tested many products. The reason why I trust their #'s is they are far more conservative with the hp gains that they are claiming. Borla claimed 12-15 hp for their exhaust, Racing Beat claimed about 3 hp. Guess which one was true after several of the posters took their cars to the dyno (3 hp).

Don't know where you have seen that the S2000 get's very much hp from mods either. I'm on the S2ki board & ingeneral dual exhausts & intakes & headers for the S2000 net only a few hp as well. Highly tuned engines like the F20C & Renesis aren't going to get much hp from the "basic" mods as they are already so highly tuned from the factory. Don't believe the vendor hype/dynos look at the independent dynoes that posters on the boards put out. You'll get a better picture.

I agree especially after I have spent the money I have, assuming stock around 170-175, with SR pullies, high flow cat, exhaust with resonator and flywheel- the car was tested to be 185 HP to the wheels by Acosta Motorsports. After all these bolts ons, nothing will come as close as the Greddy Turbo - if you are into more speed - the only way to go !!!

If you want a lot of gains w/ just basic bolt-ons, buy a domestic.

Not even 12 for an intake. Only 2-5 at best.

We purchased the RX8 to Drive the latest evolution of the Rotary Powered Sports Car with 50/50 weight distribution and excellent brakes. The car is light and a blast to drive with some mods to to the suspension and engine. We are rotary enthusiast - no pistons allowed on this forum accept in the general automotive forum.

I'm running N/A until the turbo's go through the summer months. I want to see if they stay cool under the Sun.

Where you located? I could take you for a ride in mine... :D

Your friend has been reading too many product/vendor brochures. Ask him to show you a dyno with that pull that HE did, not the one on the vendor page. I have seen, heard of a lot of S2000's with the I/H/E combo & they were getting around 15 whp at most. This is on the s2ki board. On temple of VTEC the Cold Air full intake was making about about 2 hp & 5 lb.ft of tq, not the claimed 20 whp your friend said :

http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...&page_number=2

Or in another article, they tested the DC sports exhaust on an RSX Type S, & lo & behold they got about 3-5 hp. Power mods on todays highly tuned factory engines are few & far between. Like the posters said. If you want massive gains from cheap mods get a Mustang, GTO, Corvette, SRT4, EVO, STI, WRX but cars like the RX8 & S2000 will not give you much.

The S2000 is a quite a bit faster than the Mustang GT stock for stock. The RSX Type S is a bit slower. I have seen simple intake/header/exhaust (& H/X pipe install) give a Mustang GT 25-30 hp gains. Not sure what intake you were using. I had a Mustang GT before & when I swapped out the intake, throttle body & exhaust I got quite a bit more power. On the RSX Type S there is a bit more room to play with the car. They have the Hondata ECU flash that has given up to 20 hp, but ingeneral you get a Canzoomer piggyback system for our car as well & you can get anywhere from 15 to 25 whp after you tune it.

I can't speak to the RSX, but the S2000 is so well done out of the factory that significant power gains cost real money. People report little or no gains from I/H/E mods, even very expensive ones (converting the stock dual exhaust to a more efficient single exhaust does seem to help a bit, but not a lot). Turbos and superchargers aren't hugely expensive, but $5 or $6 thousand is still a lot of money.

If you want a stock car you can really do something with, get a Toyota Celica All-Trac or MR2 Turbo. Also, some of the less-developed Hondas apparently can be modded up somewhat effectively, but, as I understand it, few things are as easy as carefully turning up the boost (and making appropriate adjustments elsewhere) on the Toyota turbos using the 3S-GTE engine.

Those 20rwhp appear only on the butt dyno. In real life, he might have gained 2-3 from an intake. There are many threads on this subject on www.s2ki.com, all of which agree that I/H/E are nice for bling, if that's your thing, but are not dollars well spent for performance.
