Power steering with an engine swap

My buddy is considering an rx8 shell and having a v8 for drifting. Does anyone know how the power steering rack works electronically? Does it just need power and ground or what?

It has it's own computer etc. If you use something like an adaptronic, it can still run all the RX8 functions and whatever standalone engine. I'm going to use an MR2 Spyder electric power steering pump. I have a high speed flaming river rack in the car.

in the most basic sense, the EPS control module needs information via the CAN communication network from the RX8 dash to drive and operate the EPS rack properly

so if you want it to function, it needs to receive that information via some method.
