Thumbs up ProCharger System for RX-8 Ready

As of Oct. 2005 DNA Motor Sports in cooperation with Rotor Master (both from Australia) have been selling a Super Charger kit for the RX-8. It is a bolt on Kit with everything included. Installable in a day. Boost is great with no special engine mods required for the stage 1 kit. They are working on the stage 2 kit now, which is said to come with the larger fuel injectors, fuel pump, etc. Again everything is planned to be included with the stage 2 kit too.

I am NOT affiliated with them in anyway, I simply know about the kit, and have seen many people asking for SC kits for the RX-8, so I am letting people know.

http://www.dnamotorsport.com/
http://www.rotormaster.com.au/

The kits are built using ProCharger SuperChargers and I can't begin to tell you how great they are, let the record stand, they devastate the competition in most race categories where ProCharger vehicles have been entered for several years now...

http://www.procharger.com/

I am waiting only for the completion of the stage 2 kit, which is estimated to produce around 400 RWHP...If I remember the details right...

Peace,

Unless the US price is a lot less that is way to expensive

The DNA link claims 60-84% more power. If we're to say 185whp @ 60% then we're looking at 296whp @ 7psi. Though this is a centrifugal unit, correct? I wonder just how high in the rpm's you must go before actually seeing even 5psi, and where does the 7psi come in? I guess I'm questioning how useable the powerband will be for us daily drivers.

Even if it is in aussie dollars it is expensive. That's about 7,500 USD - and they say it's a special price saving 2,000 AUD?
No way I'd buy it for that much, no matter how nice it is.

On my mustang I start making boost around 3k and by 6k (redline) im at max, this is on a procharger P1-SC. Actually helps me because the torque is already very strong without boost and when the car finally gets enough foward motion to aid in traction the boost picks up from there. I love my procharger though, I gained roughly 130 rwhp from 5 psi and 230rwhp from 10 psi over NA. Also while you dont make low RPM gains when racing if you keep the revs higher you will always be boosting.

$9999.... Thats just insane I bought my entire kit with intercooler and bypass valve for about 4k.

$7500 USD for a centrifugal S/C kit? 60% - 85% more HP?
Which is it and who do I complain to when it only makes the 60% instead of the 85%?

If you drive a ProCharger at an RPM that produces any boost below 5k RPM, it will be pulling 20 or more HP at 9k just to drive itself.

I dont think they are looking to appeal to the masses with an $7500 system plus tuning. BUT it has been done! I have alway thought a sc would be better for this heat producing engine. RP come on baby--maybe they can help with the ecu bit? Kudos to this crew. I wish I had that kind of money. Car will be much more dependanble that a turbo(NOT knocking turbo people)

I don't know where the idea of SC over turbo has come from with regards to heat - both make plenty.

As I have noted elsewhere, I put a centrifugal SC and then, later, a turbo on the same car.
The turbo was no hotter than the SC and was significantly more driveable, quieter and dependable.

Did I mention it made more power at the same boost?

With the supercharger:

With the turbo:

WOW...Sure got me beat...course I had a 'tiny' turbo ~7-8psi. :D

How did you tune the car? I had a GREAT piece of advanced technology - called an FMU....100+psi fuel pressure does crazy things.

ha!

FMU = F*cked Motor Up
100 PSI? You do realize that anything after 80 PSI or so actually lowers the amount of fuel going in since the spray pattern goes to hell.
I was using a LinkAFM and then added an additional injector controller from SDS.

The fun part was, my car was making more power at the wheels just off idle than it did stock at the flywheel at peak!

Car had pretty safe (11.5-12.3, if I recall) a/f...I pretty much let the shop tune the car to run as much power as my $4000 budget and their messing w/ fuel pressure would allow. Car ran that strong for several years...until the guy who bought it burned a piston at the drag strip.

The PITA the PGT was to me helps keep me from buying a greddy turbo for the rx8...I'm just tired of issues and tuning. Now...if YOU were within my zip code, I'd consider it.

Well, I'll be closer in a couple of weeks (moving to Phoenix for good) but not really close enough unless you plan a road trip.

You'll have to change your location: "More towards the left (coast) than (most of) you"

Wear Sunscreen....above all.

I'd never admit to being more "left" than anybody. Just 'cuz I move left won't make me any less moderate!

How am I supposed to get that George Hamilton tan with all that sunscreen in the way?

Back to topic - anyone else think that there might be a reason HKS hasn't brought their centrifugal kit to market?
