Pulling The Battery (Do or Don't)
I posted a thread a week or so ago about all the upgrades i'm going to do to my 04 8 this coming weekend. The big changes will be:
*Plasma Coils
*New Plugs
*AEM CAI
*Dual Resonated Mid-Pipe
*Going to port and polish the throttle body a bit
*Cleaning the MAF & O2 Sensors
The rest is purely cosmetic, braking & coolling.
The question is, with all the changes to ignition and intake and exhaust, would it not be beneficial to pull the battery connections and allow the computer to reset; thus, grabbing newer, more accurate readings on the initial start and drive?
I did search a tad, and read on one thread that he was actually instructed to NOT remove the battery because something about it would have to re-learn maps? I thought the whole point on upgrades such as mine is you WANT it to re-learn all the mappings because now you have an engine that is breathing better and sparking hotter, etc..??
Any thoughts (other than the boneheads who still bash people for not spending 2 hours searching to find the one thread, on the 25th reply, that answers their question) are MUCH appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt

You don't need to physically pull the battery out. Just disconnect the negative terminal and it will reset the fuel map which IMO should be done when you're upgrading to a different CAI.
I've disconnected mine multiple times. It just takes a few driving runs to get a baseline, not a big deal.

Vlaze,
Right.. I didn't literally mean pull the battery, I was talking about disconnecting the battery
By "Driving runs," do you mean just getting out and doing a drag run for like 1/4 mile? Or just normal driving?

Normal driving. It may take a few drives before it sets up a baseline. During this period some people said they feel it lag, or not run smooth until enough drives are done. For stock I never had an issue and it felt fine when I hooked it up again and went.
I'll be trying it with an AEM CAI so I'll see how that goes myself end of April.
