Questions about headers and exhausts...

Hello guys. Just wondering what the potential performance gains (HP, rev charecteristics, etc.) would be had by installing a new header and exhaust combination? I am specifically considering RE- Amemiya's SE3P Header and SE3P Exhaust?

I'm not looking for a HUGE difference in performance like you'd get with forced-induction, but I am curious what should be expected by going with this header/exhaust route.

Thanks for any info or suggestions!

Maybe 10 HP Max, Power wise the stock exhaust system is very good.

The below text is from Racing Beat, they are a vendor and would benefit more from lying about HP gains. So I would believe them in terms on the low gains to be found in after market exhaust.

The following table lists the measured power gains from various aftermarket components. Testing has been conducted on the Racing Beat engine dyno with both pre-production and production Renesis engines.

1. Intake – enlarging the oval inlet to the factory air box - +2 HP (this modification eliminates the VFAD intake duct.) Developmental work is still being undertaken.
2. Headers – approximately 4 HP peak power gain.
3. Mufflers – muffler & connecting pipe - 2-3 HP.
4. Removing the muffler from the car (engine) – about 4 HP.
5. Remove catalytic converter and resonator from the engine completely, and replacing with "cat" replacement tube – max benefit 8 HP – regardless of what muffler is used (or even no muffler).

"The muffler "off" will yield about 4 HP, with a very loud exhaust note. With it "off" the car, the noise is unbelievable! We find 2-3 HP peak RPM maximum improvement from our exhaust, or any competitive system that we have tested. So someone can see from these numbers, it is quite difficult to get a lot more HP from this engine. The max potential with a header and race exhaust would be around 10HP."

Yeah, it's not worth the price. Unfortunately, the prices ($1000+) on headers is quite large for the performance gain (1-5 hp) of the current unit. Some people are looking into making modified stock headers. For the price you are better off going with a Canzoomer piggyback unit for much greater gains.

I think there is only ONE forum member with a header. Need For Speed has the RE.

Here is a post of several I have researched, there might be more. https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...3&postcount=40 I am waiting on info of the new Feed equal length header. This mod WILL increase the sound level according to NFS. Here is his thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ght=Amuse+Pics
