Quicky on the HKS Exhaust

Can this be made street legal? It looks like it has the catalytic converter but its just the web pic so it may be wrong.

hmm a fellow socal member had that set up on his car. he sent me his youtube video of it. let me find the link. it sounds amazing...extremely loud though. it sounds like a race car that you're using on the street.

yeaah i know. it's just not as deep as it is w/ the stock cat, but it sounds good.
not all crazy raspy...the video has it the hks hi power mated to a RB non resonated midpipe.

in all honesty a good combo w/ the hi power is the RP supercat...i've heard it in person and its amazing...its much louder than with the stock cat, but still retains the deep throughty sound.

You think it would sound better with a resonated midpipe?

possibly, i honestly haven't heard it with a dual res mp...but i'm sure it'll sound good.
my guess is it that it should rtain that real deep sound that it makes with the stock cat.

removing the cat will net you some horsepower for sure.

i could be wrong, but i think having a straight pipe can lose you some torque...
but goin with a one resonator wouldn't be terrible. as long as you go catless you're gonna get some horepower gain for sure.

HMMMMMMMM........ Damn it, now I have to get that. I love the look of dual pipes but something about the single side is calling me.

I'll do a favor for everybody!!! If I email a top manufacturer for the rx8 and convince them to make a single sided rear bumper for the 8...then I'm sure 80% of the board will have the hks hi power lol

that's a good point. i know for as long as the hks has been around i'm suprised there hasn't been a manufacturer that has made one yet.

anyways, i know if one existed i for sure would of kept my hks...
actually now that i think about it, i want it back...

Gotta love it! so how should we do this? contact race roots or something...I would love to see a single sided rear bumper go into production

you never know its a start...thats what happened with the RB dual res MP...people kept suggesting it to RB and eventually they came through when there was enough interest.

Im soooo game. Its my favorite exhaust sound by far, and even though it looks good with the 8's now, it would match so much better with a single exhaust rear bumper kit. Plus how much could it cost? its not like you need a fancy bumper kit, it should be pretty simple.

seriously..or even a rear bumper kit that doesn't replace the whole thing, kind of how the MS rear diffuser is...just go over that bottom black part of the rear bumper. it would be pretty sweet.
