R3 Turbo or not?

Hi all, ive just joined rx8 club, bought r3 in jan. Having loads of fun in it but I need more power. What do the specialists suggest? All ive managed to find is the petit sc for £7k... half the price of the car...? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

This should be placed under the Series 2 section of the forum, but I realize there isn't as much information there as there is for Series 1. Never the less, try searching. Or get flamed. Whichever you choose. For Series 1, there are the stickies and I am sure thousands of posts/threads related to this. Check out the "Major Horsepower Upgrades" Section.

Pettit has talked about producing a S/C kit for S2. A turbo setup would be a custom job that you would have to work out.

My suggestion to you would be to maybe install some type of nitrous kit. If 5-7k prices scare you away then a turbo or supercharger is not going to happen for you.

If 7000$ is too much for you then you're no game...

He said "£7k". That is $11,000 USD.

That said, there are no really viable engine management options for the 2009 and up RX-8s, so good luck with that.

Is there something wrong with the way esmeril is doing their tuning or the way pettit plans on doing it?

Neither provide S2 tuning options. Both have stated they are looking into it but that is it.

Esmeril states right in their post in the S2 forum they are offering a turbo for S2 with tuning, so I am pretty sure they do tune. Pettit is more than "looking into it" they have it on their website and I believe were saying its not far off.

Yeah, I think they are still using their own version of the Int-X (Microtech), so it'll be equally sucky.

Thats what esmerils post says yes. The pettit tune should be much better whenever it comes out, according to them it shouldn't take much longer. I cant imagine esmerils being that bad though, I imagine its got to be much better than not having a tune anyway lol.
